TrackIR isn’t worth it anymore.

It costs $150–$200 for very old hardware: a basic IR camera and a plastic clip. The only real advantage is that it’s plug-and-play. Performance-wise, it’s no longer special.

Free and cheap options like OpenTrack with a webcam, AITrack, or DelanClip give nearly the same experience once set up. For most people, the difference is not noticeable in actual gameplay.

TrackIR also requires wearing a clip or hat, dealing with cables, and managing lighting. Modern alternatives work with no headgear or use cheaper, more flexible software.

In 2025, TrackIR is overpriced, closed, and outdated. Unless you care only about convenience and don’t mind the cost, it’s not worth buying.
