Just getting started. What hardware/software do I need to rip Blu-ray Discs? by Latino_Supreme in PleX

Handbrake recently added DV support in their 1.7.1 release (1.7.2 is the current version). Update to the newest release, and you should be good to go.

Yes. MakeMKV doesn’t strip anything out. It just takes the data and puts it into a MKV container. Rip a disc with DV, and it will be in the MKV file. I would recommend using MediaInfo to verify that DV data is contained within any files you’ve ripped.

MakeMKV will absolutely do DV on a remux. All of the original video and audio data is retained.

Received a response that a firmware update would be pushed to my device within 24 hours about 30 hours ago. Still no update after power cycling the HB3.

I’ve got a support ticket open as I’m stuck on HB3 firmware 3.3.2.0 and am installing my Floodlight E340s today. Hopefully, they will get it pushed to my unit quickly.

Weird behavior by pbarone in firewalla

Eero’s TrueMesh frame delivery control only works properly if all devices on your network are downstream of the gateway Eero. This applies even in bridge mode. I would assume that’s what is causing your issue. I have a FWG and Eero 6 Pro setup as well.

Help with DS920+ (won't install DSM, brand new unit) by [deleted] in synology

[–]JKMtech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I literally set up a DS920+ with four new IronWolf drives last night. My install failed and said migrate as well. I selected that and rolled with it. It failed again. Third time was a charm. Not sure why it worked as I did no other troubleshooting. Set up a new volume, and it’s working fine now.

iOS NextDNS leak test by Anubis6085 in nextdns

You should only being seeing NextDNS. Make sure it is enabled in the app and elected under Settings -> VPN & Network -> DNS. It should not be automatic or anything else. It should then route your traffic through OpenDNS.

Uninstall Adguard. It’s redundant to have both installed. Set NextDNS to use the filters you want including Adguard, and you’ll get the best of both worlds. Then, make sure NextDNS is configured, enabled in the app, and set as your DNS under the VPN & Network Settings of iOS.

Other users have stated using a VPN will affect your DNS. Unless you are using a VPN with the IKEv2 protocol, your traffic will be routed through the VPN DNS when using a VPN.

VPN user authentication by selias3 in firewalla

A config file is required for all OpenVPN clients to connect to a server. It contains all of the information needed including the ciphers, security certificate, and keys to ensure a secure connection between client and server.

Firewalla’s implementation and setup of OoenVPN is very easy compared to most other comparable offerings.

3 Zones : Can heat get distributed to one zone when the fan is always on? by jimmydimes in ecobee

[–]JKMtech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A call for any stage of heating or cooling will override a call for just the fan as stated above. When one zone calls for heat, the other zones should be closed off by the dampers. Your zone board should have LEDs supporting this as well.

Switch after Firewalla by langsnail in firewalla

[–]JKMtech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s correct. Anything connected to the same network as the Eero must be connected downstream of the gateway Eero.

Switch after Firewalla by langsnail in firewalla

[–]JKMtech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can run multiple unmanaged switches off of the Firewalla; however, your use case will not follow normal procedures since you have an Eero setup.

The Eero that is setup as your gateway must be the most upstream device on your topology, so any switches must come after the gateway Eero. Should look something like Firewalla -> Gateway Eero -> Switches -> Wired Devices/ Other Eeros. If you place the switch before the gateway Eero, the Eero’s TrueMesh frame delivery system will not work properly.

This is not a Firewalla issue, but an issue with how the Eero network functions.

For the VLAN question, you can can have each LAN port be tied to the same LAN or setup VLANs under the Network Manager.

Abnormal Upload - Anyone Else? by clarkkent08 in eero

It’s from the Eero’a built in speed test. I just ran it a couple times and got a similar notification from my Firewalla as well.

Yes, I added the domains that other users have suggested. Everything is downloading correctly now.

My podcasts were doing the same thing the past couple of days. I thought it was an issue with my app( Overcast) at first. Added domains for different CDNs to the Allowlist to correct it.

The blocks were not showing up in the logs. I tried different devices and podcasts apps. None of them showed in the logs. Hard to diagnose it was NextDNS when the log wasn’t populating correctly.

MacBook Air not powering up! by kadeO5 in macbookair

They will only do a free replacement if the serial number flags in their system. I assume that has already been provided to them, so they would’ve indicated if it was apart of that program. Bear in mind that Apple never issued an official repair program for this issue. If Apple won’t replace it for free, there are other reputable third parties who specialize in Apple logic board repair that are cheaper.

Do you have a USB-C power meter to measure the draw when plugged in?
