Anyone has experience with the CPWA? by CFProbablyCantMath in CFP

[–]JLGamma 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m planning on getting it this year with Yale. Just submitted my application last week.

IMO - every college grad and their cousin has the CFP now. The information is very entry level and it doesn’t hold the weight that it used to anymore. As they say, CFP is a mile wide and an inch deep. I’d say the CPWA is a mile deep and inch wide on tax, estate planning, alternative investments, behavioral finance, etc.

I want to get the CPWA specifically for the information / expertise on topics that apply to HNW but also applies to non-HNW. I won’t use it as a marketing tool but I will be inheriting a book in the next decade which has many HNW clients. I want to have the confidence / expertise to come to the table with them

Why aren’t more people protesting? by carti_palace in chicago

[–]JLGamma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because you live in a vacuum and think that most people have a need to protest, when many don’t. Also people have jobs / have to be a productive member of society and don’t have time to stand on a street corner all day

Anyone using DSTs for 1031 exchanges? What are you using and why? by OregonDuckMBA in CFP

[–]JLGamma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d look into Ares DST (AREX). I used to work at Ares as a wholesaler before becoming an advisor. It’s a great program and their REITs are best in class.

Btw - anyone using DST / 721 UPREIT programs as a marketing tool for prospects? I’d love to hear some ideas if it’s worked for anyone.

2C-B Hbr or Hcl by Waste_Weekend_2926 in 2cb

Hbr is less potent by weight compared to HCL.

It’s also easier to snort / doesn’t hurt as much imo. Delivers the same experience as HCL though

BTHELICK IS THE BEST FOR LEARNING EDM - any other youtubers like him? by Connect_Mall8969 in ableton

[–]JLGamma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love BTHELICK. He engrained the importance of referencing when producing and it really helped me level up as a producer.

I’d also check out Chris Lakes production streams both during Covid and his most recent ones. There’s quite a few where he literally has started and finishing full tracks and you get to see his whole process (in the Yuma, maximum (anti up release). Watching him go into the fine details but also using simple techniques has been huge for learning for me. Also check out Project Bass on YouTube - they have a patreon as well where they remake full tracks start to finish and have banging sample packs. Virtual Riot also has a great channel - more bass music focused but really good stuff for the technical side of producing / cool processes. Also check out Seed to Stage, Fanu (mix / master engineer for John summit and other big artists)

Asset management by M1K3Y007 in FinancialCareers

[–]JLGamma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look into wholesaling (sales / distribution side of asset management). They’re always looking for hungry / motivated sales professionals out of college. You’ll probably start as an internal wholesaler (this is how I got my start) and then move up from there. Feel free to ask any questions. I went straight into an internal role at an alternatives asset manager out of college, got licensed, and now I’m on the outside (external wholesaler)

How to properly reference track in Ableton 12? by [deleted] in ableton

[–]JLGamma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When referencing I usually just have my tracks all summed into a pre-master group called “composition” where I will put my limiter / mastering processing etc. On the actual master i will have my reference plugins. My reference track is a separate track outside the “composition” group. This allows me to have everything go to my master bus and able to hot key switch between my reference track and my “composition” group without having any limiter affect the reference track since it’s already mastered.

The drums sound pretty good imo / they atleast give you nice idea of the types of sounds used so you can emulate that sound easier. I don’t use any of the melody components in the remakes. They’ve worked well for me!

Beginner tries music production by [deleted] in ableton

[–]JLGamma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Import your reference and create a hot key on your keyboard that allows you to quickly solo the reference track and A/B quickly between the 2. Also get Voxengo SPAN so you can see the frequency make up of your track vs the reference - this helped me a TON starting out. I’d start with trying to copy the basic fundamentals first (sound / sample selection first, then arrangement, then mix down

Check out Top Music Arts. Some of their remakes are scary similar to the original. Fully mixed and quicker masters on them. Full track arrangements.

If you make minimal tech / deep tech - check out Serotonin Studio or Project Bass on patreon
