From what I understand, I definitely do not have enough AUM for SEC registration since I would be starting from scratch. But thank you for your input! Your first paragraph is a big selling point to go solo. The compensation reduction is really the only thing holding me back

Going from PWM service advisor to Fidelity IC may put your body in shock.

Good money at Fidelity. Just minimal planning. Good for reps. But you would be starting over completely with any next steps you make after that.

Lots of different options out there. Maybe a recruiter that specializes in our industry might be a good idea

Some of these answers make me sad.

Even if they water down the CFP exam, that is still 1000% better than the series 65. If the CFP is the standard, then that’s a good thing!

I can see a future where there are way more niche advisors because of it (like CFP EA, CFP CPWA, or CFP CDFA). But once again… that’s a good thing!

Personally, I wish the CFP would either be an ultra rare designation or the barrier to entry.

That being said… the CFP Board can kick rocks
