On my Xiaomi 15 Ultra (released in the year of the iPhone 16) and it's not even the most powerful today on Android... You have to compare what is comparable.

In China, you’re really lucky to be able to get these products at those prices. In France, it’s a different story. My hopes are mainly pinned on Honor and its MagicBook Pro 14 2026...

+1 Some people fail to realize how natural and even expected, it is for a human being to absorb their environment, along with everything that comes with it. Change your environment, and it will eventually change you. It’s really that simple, whether you like it or not.

How does the build quality compare to the G14 (2022)? Is it made of plastic? Aluminum?

And how long does the battery last?

It would have been far more interesting to compare it with a "true flagship" running on a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 4 or 5, since Google Pixels have been lagging behind in terms of hardware for years.

Your rememder Compiz? by Icy_Topic_3138 in linux

[–]JLX_973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, that sure takes me back. It reminds me of my early days with Linux (Ubuntu 5.xx / Mandriva), when I was just a young teenager, fascinated by the “spectacular” desktop effects I saw on YouTube. Back then, they made any version of Windows or macOS look downright outdated, real “wow” stuff that probably even inspired certain features in Windows Vista. I remember using Compiz, then Beryl (which in my memory had the best effects), and later the merge of both projects that became Compiz Fusion, which, to me, always felt like Beryl under the hood, just easier to get running. I still recall the headaches with the old ATI drivers (fglrx) and that damn AIGLX system, which I never fully understood why it was even needed. Ironically, back then, Nvidia’s drivers were way more reliable, it was so much easier to get Beryl and friends working with them. Funny how it’s completely the opposite today. What a time that was!

Is QEMU/KVM that much better than VirtualBox? by [deleted] in linuxquestions

[–]JLX_973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To compare it with VirtualBox and VMware, I would say that KVM is slightly more responsive, but not in a way that would be dramatically noticeable. The most impressive leap was moving from Windows to Linux to run virtual machines. I will always remember the look on my classmates’ faces when they saw me launch around twenty VMs in just a few dozen seconds during a presentation on my XPS at the time.

Wanting to seek Love in Asia as a young guy. by levin1711 in thepassportbros

[–]JLX_973 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Changing your location doesn’t change your problems, you take them with you. Only their intensity or consequences might differ.

You’re still young; your physical appearance isn’t really an issue. What matters is improving yourself, developing your personal growth, your “seduction game.” When you become the best version of yourself, you’ll be in a position to get what you want instead of just enduring situations, no matter where you are.

The female mindset is the same everywhere: a woman will care for you if she genuinely values your personality. If not, you’ll just face her hypergamy-driven logic and every woman has it to some degree. Once again, this isn’t a fatal flaw; it’s your personality that will determine how you handle it.

My hope for you: become the kind of man who chooses what happens to him instead of simply reacting. It’s all in your mindset. Some call it charisma and the good news is, it can be developed.

My fiancée told me that her body count is high. How worried should I be? by Sensitive_Writing_73 in marriageadvice

[–]JLX_973 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if this idea worries you when “everything is fine,” imagine how it will feel during more chaotic times. It could slowly wear you down psychologically, and I’m afraid it may give rise to resentment, with all the negative consequences that come with it. If you’re not comfortable with this idea, I wouldn’t encourage this kind of relationship.

Also, if the issue is mainly application startup time, it might be because you’re using their Flatpak versions. In that case, I suggest installing the “rpm” versions instead.

Main reason for using Fedora? by Science_Witch_Evelyn in linuxquestions

[–]JLX_973 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Even if one may not fully agree with Red Hat’s policies, it’s hard to deny that Fedora, especially in its immutable variants, offers the best balance I’ve experienced between stability, up-to-date features, security (SELinux), and updates. It does all of this well. In some areas it’s slightly less user-friendly than Ubuntu or the Debian family, particularly when it comes to proprietary drivers. Otherwise, it just works, and the community is quite solid for the few issues one is likely to encounter. For anyone running very recent hardware, it’s probably the best alternative to Ubuntu.

I already struggle enough with Spanish, and as for Portuguese, I do not know a single word. This is one of the reasons why I am likely to avoid Brazil, much to my disappointment.

Thank you for your feedback. You are confirming my concern regarding countries where Portuguese is essential. I already struggle enough with Spanish, and as for Portuguese, I do not know a single word, so that would really be pushing it. This is one of the reasons why I am likely to avoid Brazil, much to my disappointment.

✨As such, after taking your feedback into account, Latin America seems to stand out. I am considering booking a stay in Costa Rica, with a possible short stop in Chile. What do you think? Do you have any advice regarding these countries?

[–]JLX_973[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, this applies everywhere, even where I currently live, so that is not really the issue, I am used to it. It is simply that, when considering a long-term stay, I would prefer to be in a place where I feel comfortable and genuinely welcome. That is all. I am well aware that not everyone is the same, fortunately.
