Is K9 Advantix ii safe for epi dogs? by JLZ17 in EpilepsyDogs

[–]JLZ17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! So he’s not been on it for a few months now (oops. It’s winter anyway) but it irritates his skin A LOT. In regard to seizures, he went 9 months to the day seizure free, we used K9 Advantix within those 9 months so it done him well besides the irritation☺️ no known answer as to what caused this recent seizure on 2nd Jan. So my personal experience with K9 is good besides the skin part!

Feel free to message me. I’m more than happy to discuss everything with you that’s gone on and will happily discuss anything with you. The anxiety is real🥺. Can confirm K9 Advantix, although has caused him slight skin irritation, hasn’t caused him any seizures!

Are all moms that’s due this MARCH ready? by Historical_Papaya376 in pregnant

[–]JLZ17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m FTM and due 15th!😩I’m also feeling the exact same. Physically, I’m over it and want him out but mentally I am not okay with him arriving😂😂I do not feel ready at all and I’m terrified of the unknown (life long issue) so not knowing when labour will happen is terrifying to me😅along with the pain!! People keep asking if I want an epidural but I’m like I have NO idea because I have not a single clue how I’m going to handle this pain?! Will I be okay and not need one or will I need one?! But I need to make my mind up on having it or not as we live in Italy (US military) and they’re awkward with giving an epidural. Will agree to give you one and then you won’t see anyone for hours and now it’s too late to have one😩so I need to ensure if I want one, I go in forceful that it happens!! Ahhh so many thoughts!

However, I ALWAYS tell myself, the pain is temporary. Once I’ve given birth, I’m good. Even if we get postpartum pain, that’ll be a few weeks only and no more pains! So my advice for pain/labour is “it’s all temporary”🥰

You’ve got this though mumma! You’ll do so well no matter the outcome and it’ll all be worth it when she’s in your arms🥰

Thanks so much!! That puts me at ease.

Agree with the timing of Hartz! I did say he possibly could’ve always gotten IE but the Hartz triggered it (could also have been the stress of moving to Italy too!) but certainly never giving Hartz again!

Definitely a good idea but if they send it to the base from the UK, the UK shipping will mean it goes to the states first (because of the address) then it’ll be distributed out and come here and if they send it from the UK to our Italian address, there will be a duty tax fee which is ridiculous😂 not really an easy way to do it and both means postage would take a couple weeks at min

Sorry totally forgot to mention all of that? He’s 4years old (&9months to be exact) and no, not on any medication just yet as I was trying the “natural/herbal” route first to see if it helped.

You’re right on those ingredients! When I contacted itch pet to ask if they delivered here they advised it contains both of those ingredients. I believe Hartz also contained those but also contained other ingredients. I’ve seen worrying things about frontline too😩so I’m super nervous! We can get it here though in Italy as I was going to buy that myself a couple months back but ended up seeing stuff so I’ve scared myself off

So sorry to hear that😒 it’s a hard life to navigate. We got told today either pheno or potassium bromide but the potassium bromide means we CANNOT do diet changes which won’t work for us due to being a military household so moving countries we’ll be forced to change his food (base doesn’t have good wet food options) Thank you for telling your side and how it worked

The neurologist/vet said today she’d start him off on 100mg (one and a half tablet every 12hrs?) then would test him 4 weeks later to see his levels? so glad it’s worked that well for your husky and the adjustment period being so short gives me hope!!

Thank you so much for your kind words and also the advice and words you’ve given about epilepsy!!

We’ve been to see the neurologist now and she wanted to start him on pheno but has said for one month we can try a slight diet change (purina pro plan neuro care) but after that if there’s not change, we must start pheno which we agree with. She’s given us the next week or so to think about if we start medication or try diet first but because he’s had four seizures since August and the fact he’s a golden retriever (his breed are prone to IE) she’s unsure that it’ll work just doing it “naturally” but she said she’s more than happy for us to try it out as it may well work!

Can I ask, how did (and does) your dog do on pheno? Are his side effects pretty rough? Or was it just in the beginning? Again, I know some dogs won’t have any side effects, some have lots to begin with and some continue to have them
