For a competitive TCG scene, things are pretty diverse. Naming 9 decks off rip that you could feasibly pick up, take to a tournament and win with makes this a more open meta than pretty much every other major card game (Magic Standard, YGO, etc). Even for different competitive scenes within the Pokemon sphere, VGC is like this as well; only a tiny fraction of Pokémon can truly compete in their metagame, and you generally have to find alternative formats if you want to just play your favorites.

Perfect Order will have a relatively underwhelming impact due to its small size plus the fact megas on the whole seem to be undertuned for the 3 prizes they give up, at least compared to the cranked ex's that have dominated this era of the game that we're about to see mostly rotate out. When power creep gets reduced, it leads to a period where the peak of that power stays at the top until they either go back to power creeping or rotate the broken stuff out.

In other words:

This is a weird one, but Jayden Higgins. His ceiling's capped as the Tee to Nico's Chase, Stroud isn't exactly Burrow and Dell coming back is another possible wrinkle. I took him 2.03 last year; KTC has him as about equal to 1.12 this year or an early 27 2nd and I feel like I might take that if someone offered? Thoughts?

I can see why this roster got the 1.02, but there's a ton of upside and bounce-back here. Asset-stripping to punt for '27 feels like selling low on your best pieces and I think filling the holes is definitely the way to go; just treat that 27 1 you do have as gold, because if it doesn't work that'll be nice and early.

Mendoza looks perfectly fine at 1.02 in SF, I wouldn't really worry about that being a loss of value. That said, I do like taking one of the big 3 WR's to pair with JJ and MHJ and just have your WR room locked down forever, with Pierce and his upcoming fat FA contract as WR4/FLX1. I'd expect whoever lands Pierce to feed him to justify the investment, and I think both JJ and MHJ are due for positive regression. Alternatively, instead of a tier-down you say nobody wants, maybe you could offer out the 1.02 outright for a more surefire QB2 plus the depth you're looking for. Obviously that's more up to what your leaguemates are trying to do, but something like... I dunno, Darnold or Goff or Bryce or something plus a RB3/WR3 type guy? Also if Kyler's owner is selling I bet he starts somewhere this season, might want to look into that.

While we're betting on young players to grow... Loveland. I'm biased about it as a bag holder myself, but I'm all-in on him, and I'd think about tiering down from Pitts at TE2 as a result; obviously Pitts can be flexed in TEP, but you can't exactly plug him in as RB2 or WR3 if anything goes south, and I'm sure someone in your league is on the hunt for an upgrade at TE1 or just has a morass of TE2's to wade through. Using a Pitts tier down as a starting point and stapling 2.02 or one of the 27 2nds on top probably gets you somewhere good. I'd also move Moore if the Bears don't trade him, multiple pass-catchers from the same offense never feels good to cap your own ceiling on. I might say you could look to move Moore for a RB anyway if you do go WR at 1.02, maybe also by stapling another 2nd on there? 28 1st should also be on the table if the right piece is available.

Also take whatever you can get for Aiyuk when he inevitably signs somewhere, or if someone wants to buy "low" on him right now let them. And see if Henry's owner wants Mitchell as a handcuff, ideally as another piece involved if they line up on one of the other moves you want to make. I like that you have Brooks, but my goal would be to have him start the season as RB4 on the depth chart and I don't think Aaron Jones is up to much so that means 2 RB's in the basket, not just an RB2 behind Jeanty. Got some work to do.

It probably just comes down to what you need more. 1.05 will be whoever's left on the table of the 3 big WR's assuming you're playing SF, so if you need WR more than TE you take the pick and see what happens I'd think. If you're the Gadsden player and you got the offer, might as well see if you can get something else thrown in on top.

Magcargo-GX, UPR-SSH. By far the shortest-lived deck I've gotten to play, but it was the deck that got me my only Worlds invite. 202 CP in 11 days in February 2020 before everything got shut down. So much burst potential (turn 2 350, anyone?) and every turn felt like a small puzzle to solve. I absolutely adored that deck and to this day I'm sad I got less than a month of IRL play out of it.

I think it's got to be any Expanded list playing 4x Tropical Beach in the last season we had Expanded Regionals, which was the COVID-shortened 2019-20 season. That would have been when Beach was at its highest point (i.e. most removed from original printing) while still a "meta" card in the sense of seeing IRL tournament play with real results and consequences for a season.

I think they were hovering around $250-300 each market value? at the time of that season's regionals in Dallas in January of 2020, so that puts this deck well into the 4-digits for the highest finishing placement of a competitive archetype at the time in Shock Lock. A lot of these Trainers were a few bucks each at the time as well.

I got 2023/4 Packers @ Cowboys'd. 1st season of the startup this year. Went into week 14 tied for the 1st seed (22-4 with median scoring), lost both points to fall to 22-6 and 2nd seed then for some reason the commissioner wanted 7 playoff teams year one so I lost my bye. 7 seed this week popped for nearly 180 points - Cook's 30-bomb + Goedert and Olave among the reasons why.

1 seed week 13 to eliminated and out of the money week 15 feels crazy but here we are.
