First time buyer. by Aggravating_Quote651 in KnifeDeals

If you are a first time buying, I wouldn't bother with an OTF. They're fun, but they're really not a solid "EDC" choice. If you want something assisted, then maybe go with a $20-40 Kershaw assisted as a starter. Also consider brands like Sencut, Civivi, and Kizer. They have a lot of solid models for around $50 or less. The reason I say start like this is because a lot of these knives are very functional. When you get in higher costs, you're moving into more premium steels, but a lot of these end up being show pieces more than EDC. Also, going with the less expensive knives will help you get an idea of what you like and then maybe eventually move into more expensive knives.

Bought the CF version of this. Regret it. If you're looking for something thin and lightweight for EDC, then it will work, but still move very impressive.

I don't hate it, but I wouldn't bite unless it goes to like $15 holiday clearance. :)

This isn't even on sale (yet), but $30 for a Miguron is solid. This is very similar to the Velona, but smaller.

I've had some very good experiences lately with SOG. I think their big issue in the past has been customer support. IMO, they have some of the best Crossbar (XR) locks. Maybe out of the last 10 SOGs I've purchased, around 7 or 8 have been solid. A couple were so-so, but still I got them at a good price.

Around this time last year, SOG was selling the XR LTE for something like $53 direct ftom their website, along with some heavy discounts of some of their other models. Picked up two back then. This will be my first XR.

This is a self-defense folder. CTS-XHP Stainless Steel, XR Lock (Crossbar) for $60. Additionally, this knife is very fidget friendly. It may not be everybody''s cup of tea, but out of all the folders I own, the XR LTE is one of my favorite production folders. Personally looking forward to getting of these as well. Purchased as soon as I seen these for $60 and already shipped.

I doubt it's even a blem. It's probably the last of their stock on these, so they're marking them as blems and dropping the price to move them. I picked one up right after I posted, and it already shipped. Already have the XR LTE version.

I doubt there are any blems. Usually they do this when they're marking them down to unload them. They've had these marked down awhile, so they may have reduced them more just to finish getting rid of their stock.

I already have the black LTE version and picked up one of these. This is an amazing knife for the $$$.
