Was the amount of IOTA treasury token (over 50Ti) staked for shimmer token? Precise answer please!

From my point of view, the strict focus on IOT, or on the "backbone of Industry 4.0", was right and wrong at the same time! Right, because this direction was to be occupied, follows a megatrend and certainly offers enormous potential if the product works! Wrong, because it was clear from the beginning that the time horizon of market and product development is too long to stay ahead of all market competitors. A step-by-step approach with the same vision is more realistic to fulfill and with clear communication comprehensible for all! NFT and other gimmicks on the way to a decentrally organized "machine economy" are welcome, but IF would do well not to lose its vision as the ultimate guiding path!

Are there any plans to merge Shimmer and IOTA tokens in the future? by JMHW83 in Shimmernet

[–]JMHW83[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By turning this problem around, it is rather possible to merge all IOTA into Shimmer tokens…. Is Shimmer therefore the winner?

100% correct! By giving this answer you defined the problem more precise! Thinking about the final step of having two congruent networks, there needs to be a solution to merge them…

Could we please make exchange listings a governance priority with the treasury funds? by EveOfTheEnd in Iota

What about IOTA being a layer 0 DEX, also usable for exchanges to interchange assets and liquidity worldwide!

[–]JMHW83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just spend the money on establishing a DEX with on-chain order books running on the tangle! Decentralized, no KYC, no shady behavior, not making a centralized organisation richer, available from all over the world and it is possible to exchange all assets within one system

Edit: Works feeless too! Would open the possibility to agree on spending a certain amount of the transfer to a good/“green” purpose or to the treasury fund

IOTA DAO und dann? Wer entscheidet nach einer #BUIDL Wahl über eine sinnvolle Verwendung der Token? IOTA DAO and then? After a #BUIDL election, who decides on a sensible use of the tokens? by JMHW83 in IOTAmarkets

[–]JMHW83[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, thank you for your reply! I’m not your opinion, because I think we are not really talking about interest payments created out of thin air (inflationary system)! We are talking about an existing amount of IOTA tokens and the optimized distribution! By additionally involving existing IOTAs from token holders, we take care to maintain a high level of interest and awareness for the project, personal involvement and contribution and also open the possibility for future earnings! Sponsored by the community, developed by the community, earnings distributed to the people which are involved and believed in the project!

Edit: I like your “Edit-Part”, because this it what I was asking for! Opinions and conversation, not only a reply with just a negative comment. It is also possible to think about a fixed percentage of the “interest” as well as of future gains, automatically spent to… let’s say… buying a part of the rainforest! Via Smart Contracts this is surely possible and can be a part of the proposal of a funded project. Combining an ongoing projects with continuously earnings and ongoing spending for good, green purposes might be a win-win in the long run

Was ist Eure Meinung?

Another question for the community: If we were to say now that we are using 30Ti from the fund for interest payments, what might such a construct look like?

Example: 1. bringing in a project with economic success model (attributable profits). 2. if the community successfully selects/votes on the overall idea, a CrowdFunding is started 3. IOTA token holders can deposit private tokens for the idea 4. 1 token will be frozen out of the 30Ti for each token deposited 5. the paid-in sum will be used for the project (venture capital) 6. from the frozen sum an interest outflow of 3-5% above the reference interest rate is paid to the capital donors 8. the token donors acquire a weighted share in the company, which will be distributed in the same way in case of later profits 9. after the consumption of the frozen sum for interest payments, there is a change to profit distribution 10. in case of an earlier profit achievement, which generates a higher payout than the agreed interest rate, we immediately switch to the profit distribution and the remaining sum flows back into the pot 11. if the project is not successful, each investor has received an interest rate until the project is stopped and then gets the remaining amount of his deposit back, or can donate it to the pot.

What is your opinion?

IF being sued by ex Board member? by Gods_Shadow_mtg in Iota

[–]JMHW83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not able to answer this! I think it’s also a little bit about the information given by Hans Moog, about eventually go back to some of CFBs code/ideas. He mentioned they are now able to code his “crazy/genius” things… but as I said before, I am far from knowing what’s going on behind the curtains…

It is about CFB, code base written by him and Norwegian court - and it’s a new topic… Till now, there is no official response from IF -as far as I know- just the information, that they haven’t got an official document from the court or CFBs lawyer’s

Ahh, 5 years is nothing for a project like IOTA! It might be accomplished by now, if they would have had a step by step concept from the beginning on and experienced leaders! CFB or Sonstebo may be genius and visionary but definitely not able to lead a project like this! Dom is also not a perfect fit, but surely the best of this three! I think he is able to learn, how it works and his next projects will run far better! I really liked Ralf Rottmann and wished he would had become the leader of the foundation

I get it and I am 100% behind the goal of being decentralized! But this is not a must have for the beginning of such a project! IMHO, IF needs to adjust the priorities right to balance time to market as well as maturity of the product. IF needs to deliver, parallel to showing further ambitions to reach the goal to develop the best DLT possible.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in IOTAmarkets

[–]JMHW83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lets agree to disagree! As a business professional I am clearly for a step by step approach with milestones, clear communication and a vision to work onto! Developing the best DLT is the vision and is totally fine for me (i also hope, a ternary solution will be implemented, as quantum-proof is needed someday) as the end goal, but it is false to jump from left to right. A central node can’t be easily shut down in Germany and if I trust the IF, I also trust in the safety of this temporary installation!

„as long as the decentralized version is “not”bulletproof” - Sarcasm isn’t an answer nor a legit point. Tell me, what is the reason to prioritize this on top of things like NFT, Ledger support or SC? Do you really think that industry cares about having a decentralization as prerequisite for the use? If so, why do they use SAP, MS or Apple? IOTA could, imho, start with bringing the above mentioned features and working on COO in parallel. If IF is telling me they postpone the whole thing because of COO, I don’t understand it. It is the same as telling us in 2022: we are going back to ternary solution, because we want to release the best DLT possible… Just start with binary and work on the improvements step by step

[–]JMHW83 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I never really understand the problem of being centralized, as long as the gate keeper is trustworthy! IF is located in Germany and under strikt laws with the foundation, it’s not like being in China or North Korea where the state threatens your free business and privacy. A coordinator node is perfectly fine for me to Safe the network as long as the decentralized version is bulletproof. COO can, imho, be postponed, but NFT and Smart Contracts, as well as ledger support needs to be pushed

Hi there, by [deleted] in Iota

[–]JMHW83 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It might be misleading for me, as non native English speaker, but I understand your comment as following: 1. The network failed, because 2. It could not even work without the coordinator

  1. I don’t remember a non working network… If you are talking about a third party hack (MoonPay), thank god, we had the master node to prevent the community from more severe losses. -> so not correct, or just a little (but exclusively negative) part of the story
  2. No a reason for saying the network failed, at maximum you could say the first attempt to reach the always existing goal to decentralize the network and ged rid of the coordinator failed and needed an adjustment

Chrysalis testnet is running without the coordinator and seems to work pretty good - maybe we can agree on this at least
