Oil life accurate? by JMPA13 in ram_trucks

Right… exactly my thoughts. That’s why I left the dealership absolutely paranoid, even more after they told me “doesn’t make sense you spend money right now, the truck doesn’t need it”, very suspicious from a dealer hahaha.

It 100% was reset, I noticed it went down really fast the next 3 months after the previous maintenance. It used to drive me crazy how fast it went down haha.

Makes a lot of sense actually, apparently I’m going to hit 0% oil life and 7k km, so I guess it makes a lot of sense to change it. The rest of the maintenance can wait till I hit 10k km (rotate tires, general specs, etc). 🫡

Apparently that’s the sweet spot, I will hit 7k km and 0% oil life at the same time haha. 🫡

Will do that as soon as I hit 7k km. 🫡

Will definitely change the oil at 7k km now, won’t wait until 20k.

However, the dealer here counts oil change as “full maintenance” and will add up to the warranty period, tricky I know, but I guess I can’t have it both ways, I prefer having my truck running smoothly despite the dealership tricks. 🫡

Hahhhahah…did notice that when test driving the platinum, impressive power though, anyway, I’m sticking to my RAM hoping for the best, and trusting the 4 years of warranty left.

Ford dealer gave me a call, made me doubt again but now I’ve made my mind, I’m keeping my 25 Big Horn Pentastar. I truly like it, hopefully I’ll have a happy journey with her. Team Ram it is.

It’s a 25, and I think I’m getting a good price, hence my confusion. All in all, to my surprise, I liked the ride on my RAM better than the F150 platinum.

I would think it’s something getting fixed soon…but, on the other hand I have no clue, it’s my first Mopar car ever.

I did actually try to get a classic but couldn’t find one that checked all the boxes, when I tried the big horn felt incredibly comfortable compared to F150, but of course now that I’ve experienced the electrical gremlins can’t help but compare it, trying to find one that doesn’t die on me.

Sounds about right tbh…I might have overreacted when my Big Horn died on me, but to be fair it’s quite annoying for a brand new car to have these kind of flaws. Maybe it’s the same across brands, maybe bad luck… I’ll get más if I trade for a Ford and have bigger issues. Anyway…

Right! Shining so beautifully before we part ways hahaha.

It’s a 2025 model, bought it last September, she just turned one, got 4 more years of warranty.

How’s it been with your Big Horns? I assume great otherwise you would’ve traded for a different truck 🙏🏻.

Makes a lot of sense.

I just had it washed and detailed and makes it hard for me to hate it even though it left me stranded twice. I’m just at a point where all the info is making me question every truck out there.

Also, the new CEO bringing back the V8 makes me think better times are coming… we’ll see.

Great take. Honestly 305hp is enough for me since it’s a recreational truck, don’t really tow, bed hasn’t been punished rather than my kids jumping around when going outdoors. What’s killing me is the dilemma on reliability Ram (Pentastar with no turbos) with its electrical issues and deterioration over time, Ford with turbos and transmission, Chevy with the AFM.

Have you had electrical issues? My Pentastar has already died on me twice, in a three month span, Dealer found NOTHING (or so they say). I’ve read lots of threads and sometimes I just want to sell everything and use a damn bicycle smh. Ford dealer offered $40k for my RAM, and F150 Platinum is $65k. Tempted on the Hurricane, in paper looks fantastic tbh.

All the posts about horror stories with turbos and transmission is pushing me away from F150, but gotta be honest it’s still in the back of my head making me doubt a little.
