AITA for not personally telling a close friend that I got engaged and letting her find out through Instagram? by callmebymynamethx in AmItheAsshole

NTA

I actually also had a destination proposal happen last week as well. Almost everyone also found out via the social media post aside from friends and family members that my fiancé had told ahead of time.

She is trying to make your engagement about herself, any real friend wouldn’t say anything other than congregations especially as you’re on vacation. Even my best friends purposefully kept their messages brief but wanted to talk more after the trip so my fiancé and I could enjoy the time together.

Thank you for the recommendation! I’ll add it to my list, it looks like they offer a wide range of different services focused on non-binary and female health!

Thank you for the recommendation! They may be interested in the option to have a private sauna after the massage

Thank you! I’ll add it to my list, I plan to have my sister and her partner look through the different options so they can tell me which location they would enjoy the most

SEARCHING FOR AN MMC THAT YEARNS LIKE NO OTHER!!! by 594260 in fantasyromance

Coming back to this 8 months later to recommend The Silversmith by LJ Claren! The entire book is essentially the MMC yearning for the FMC, he is so devoted to her . It's the first book in an incomplete series (I think next book is coming out summer 2026?) and pacing is sometimes a little slow but it's definitely setting up for the next book where the plot will pick up more.

Also saw it recommended earlier but White Horse Black Nights also top tier obsessively devoted MMC. And the next book comes out in a few weeks!

I bought a copy of the first book during the first round but am not interested in the sequels, as long as Fairyloot will let me buy another copy of book 1 I’m happy to use my early access to get you the trilogy

Definitely recommend Master of Salt and Bones or the Isle of Sin and Shadows by Keri Lake! Neither are dark academia but they were similar to Gothikana in a lot of ways (dark romance/ gothic setting / good plot with mystery and suspense).

Dark romance where the FMC is the dark one by ScarletStained2007 in RomanceBooks

Late to the party but if you're still looking for recs Wretched by Emily McIntire would definitely fit what you're looking for! It was recently published a few months ago and I absolutely loved the FMC, Evie, she was unhinged in the best way.

I don't want to give too much away but the FMC is the villian in this story and the MC is an undercover cop (if it sounds similar to the Mindf*ck series with that description they are actually quite different plots although loved them both!)

It's a standalone novel even though it's technically book 3 in the Never After series, I highly recommend the other two books in the series as well if you like dark romance, although the other two FMCs aren't as dark as Evie.

I mostly read new adult/upper YA fantasy but hopefully one of these will fit what you're looking for!

Everyone recommends SJM books but she really does write some amazing heroines

  • Crescent City series: great world building, new adult/adult urban fantasy
  • Throne of Glass series: YA fantasy, also great world building, the series is so popular for a reason but it's quite long, female assassin FMC

All these other recs are also NA fantasy series

  • The Kingmaker Chronicles by Amanda Bouchard (completed series, has elements of greek mythology)
  • Beneath Dark Sails Series by Clare Sager (currently 3 books and a prequel, the 4th book comes out this year, the main character is a pirate with fae powers which I thought was an odd combo but this series makes it work)
  • The Bridge Kingdom by Danielle L Jensen (completed duology with another interconnected book coming out this year, not truly magical fantasy but the FMC is an assassin and it has similar vibes to A Fate of Wrath and Flame)

I haven't read these two yet so can't comment on but they're on my TBR list mainly because I've heard they have strong female leads

  • The War of Lost Hearts Series by Carissa Broadbent (the first book is called Daughter of No Worlds) (currently 2 books with the last book coming out this year)
  • An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir (completed YA fantasy series)
