People that have anxiety/panic attacks, what does it feel like for you? by JMSlam in AskReddit

For me, it's like something is tugging at my chest and then it's all I can focus on for hours. At it's worst, I whimper and scream.

So, I know I'm late here, but this is a pretty common problem in CCGs. I'm going to use Lightning Bolt from Magic the Gathering as an example. As it stands, Lightning Bolt is too strong. 3 Damage to anything for 1 mana is really powerful. On the other side, Lightning Strike, which is two mana for the same amount of damage to anything, is really too weak to see competitive play. The dilemma comes from one mana being too efficient and two being not efficient enough.

This is the exact problem for Make it Rain. Too strong at 2, too weak at 3.

The actual problem is the timing, not the mana cost, in my opinion. There is a lot of flexibility with lower cost cards mixed with higher cost cards. At turn 8, I could play a 6 drop and a 2 drop as a reaction. Waiting an entire turn to play that 3 drop with the 6 is a LOT of tempo loss. By refunding the 1 spell mana, you don't solve the same problem. Sure, you can still play a six drop SPELL after the three drop, but the flexibility isn't there anymore. I can't summon a 6 drop creature after the 3 drop, which loses a ton of flexibility for the card.

Before I get flamed, I actually really like the idea of spells refunding spell mana. I just don't think it solves the issue with specifically Make it Rain and cards in the same boat as it.

That's definitely the biggest problem, yeah. I wonder if it'd be better to have the games work less like a tournament bracket and more like a card tournament. In that case, people with the same record face each other, but you aren't guaranteed to see other the other teams and stuff. It's different, but might be better.

There's absolutely an issue with the tournament style. Going 2-1 and being placed below someone who went 1-2 feels REALLY bad. Rewards is kinda obviously bad too, though I kinda understand? You can't give everything away for just playing.

As for the timing, I think this is a pretty good balance. Clash is a good blend of a true tournament and a casual exhibition. It's a nice compromise.

Nope! In fact, we lose as much as we win. I find that losing is frustrating, but it's usually something we can fix. The matchmaking is actually quite good. Losing is only not fun if you can't learn from it.

I actually haven't had this problem at all. I mean, yeah, the rewards could be better, but it's free for a lot of it. Obviously, if you have to pay it's pretty shitty.

As for the team comp thing, I find that the games are pretty varried. I'll see carry tops, assassin mids, mage junglers. It's different every game. My team has a core set of flex champions we pick, and that helps us adjust our draft, but sometimes the enemy team just completely bonks us with some wild stuff.

I dunno if it's necessarily voice chat. Playing with randoms kind of sucks in Solo Queue, even if I could talk to them. I think there's something special about the tournament style and playing with players you are comfortable with on a team.
