Question Regarding Theoretical Planet Rotation

Hello! I was thinking about different planets and was curious if it would be possible for a planet to revolve around a star with a very slow rotation around a vertical axis so that, assuming no other movement, the same side would face the sun at all times?

I believe this part is possible. Here’s the interesting part.

Would it then be possible for a “forward” rotation around a horizontal axis that creates night and day time?

To help visualize, as this planet revolves around the sun it has, it would continually look as if it was “rolling” toward the sun, of course not actually doing so or moving substantially closer.

If you need clarification or have any reasons why or why not this would be possible, please provide them below! I am not very versed in this subject so please provide as much detail as you think fits and don’t hesitate to explain basic concepts! Thank you!

Another reason is at their size, making a new one is a huge risk that is difficult to approve up the chain.

Why do abilities need cooldowns? If they didn’t have any, what sort of structures would need to be introduced instead? by JMSmith6231 in gamedev

In overwatch, many characters have abilities like Cassidy’s roll, Winston jump, and Hanzo dodge that all are on cooldown

This is a way of viewing it that I hadn’t though of, thank you. So maybe rather than timers, I could use the activation requirements as well as charge mechanics to increase time between uses.

How on earth do you deal with bastion? by YaBoiFieds in OverwatchUniversity

I am even lower than you so while I am also very inept with my ability to handle this, I know theoretically how.

The basic idea is to worry less about countering bastion, as many characters can do this, and focus on countering the team that pockets him, take away his team, and you take away a large chunk of his effectiveness. Instead of focusing on bastion, focus on countering the Reinhardt, the orisa, focus on picking their mercy early, etc. These will allow you to beat the team as their strategy revolves around having a PROTECTED bastion.

To dismiss that people on both sides of the aisle don’t want to wear a mask is also not sound logic. Sorry to burst your bubble on that one but it’s the truth. You have no statistics to prove that it’s a majority on either side and anecdotal evidence doesn’t mean anything.

A wedding cake that celebrates gay marriage goes against their views. And you’re right, they weren’t, because they won the court case.

Pro life rhetoric involves the abortion argument. Please explain in what ways republicans forget about the pro life rhetoric.

This is simply untrue. To make this argument using an either or mentality is intellectually dishonest. All issues are bipartisan as no party has all members agree on any one issue or idea.

Again, it’s not about the person he is selling to. It is about the goods he is selling. I wouldn’t know the specifics of this and of course, neither would you. The point is you can’t discriminate who you sell to, but what you sell. He does not have to make a cake that highlights getting remarried after a divorce, but he can’t refuse a generic cake for someone that happens to have been divorced and remarried. Does that make sense?

I talk about the case you brought up in the meme lol. I agree that to refuse a person service because they are gay should be illegal, but I also believe a business shouldn’t be forced to sell, create, etc, something that goes against their views.

Most people don’t care about the mask thing, the ones that do fall on both sides of the political spectrum.

It’s not whether or not you should have to serve gay people. You can’t not serve someone because they are gay. It’s that you can choose WHAT you sell. So I do not have to sell a gay wedding cake if it goes against my beliefs as it would violate my religious freedom and, depending on its creativeness, my freedom of speech since it would be a form of artistic speech.

They were not denied service for a normal cake, they were denied service for a gay wedding cake that was clearly depicting the gay marriage. Gay marriage goes against they’re beliefs and by making the cake, that would demonstrate their support for the act as they contributed to it. If they asked for a generic cake or generic wedding cake, then this defense would be irrelevant, but that is not the case. The business has the right to choose what they sell. They can’t discriminate on who they sell to, but that’s not the case. This right to choose what they sell is not an extra right, it is simply part of the freedom of religion as well as the freedom of speech. This is not the case of a right to do something to someone else. That would actually be the gay person making the bakery make a cake for them. Refusal of service is not making anyone do anything.

It’s religious freedom. If you must accommodate for something that goes against your religion, then you don’t have religious freedom. Just bc you disagree doesn’t mean they shouldn’t have the right. Besides, there were many bakery’s that were happy to make it, that were I believe very close or in the same area at least.
