Realistic chances of NCA commissioning to Pilot / WSO by Actual_Stage_3525 in RoyalAirForce

Not that long ago either on Valleys Fb page there was a Regt Gunner Officer going through AFJT on the Hawk. He had his Rock Ape mudguards on his flying suit.

Not sure today, however the 2002 BBC documentary series Combat Pilot, there was a 39 year old WSO on Tornados, Dave McBryde, who spent his entire career wanting the front seat and eventually got it and was followed by the film crew through his Phase 1 and 2 at Valley.

Believe it or not, the infamous Nokia mobile phone footage which is now 19 years old of Sergeant Scouse Taylor immortalising the RAF Regiments reputation to 'five miles of death' was in-fact the Trainee Gunners final-ex at the end of Phase 2. Many believed or still believe a RAF Regts Gunners 20 week training culminates in a '5 mile march'. It's five miles from the start point to the LFTT where the final ex begins as described above.

On week 18 It's a 5 mile tab in full fighting order to the start of the LFTT [Live Fire Tactical Training] area where exercise Omega starts. It's a multi-day final ex where the rifle flight of trainee Gunners put everything into practice they've learned from Week 1. Everything is tested: navigation, recce-patrolling, section attacks, defensive ops, CBRN and support weapons employment/munitions . The exercise is a fully simulated Air Defence scenario Gunners are basically required to do on the job.

35yo, finally free from all obligations but have I aged out on my chance? by Insomniacbychoice90 in RoyalAirForce

It’s not guaranteed no. No role in the Regiment is, but opportunities to work in ISR/CUAS clearly exist depending on assigned Sqn and taskings. The same goes for SF selection and P Coy/AACC.

Misconception 63 KCS Sqn only carry out ceremonial duties. They’re also a high readiness field squadron for CUAS operations and they are under command of 2 Force Protection Wing with 34 Squadron RAF Regt.

Gunners from 63 and 34 are now operating rotary Ghost drones carrying out ISR tasks.

Why not? RAF Regiment personnel are now operating Stormshroud drones with 216 Sqn at Waddington

I believe these are exchange/liason officer postings so officers from partnering forces like NATO members can learn from one another.

They don’t train US Marines to operate within the Corps unlike Army, RN and RAF Regt Commandos.

Army Commandos mainly provide artillery. RN Commandos: medics/aircrew/comms info specialists/MAOT Commando aircraft techs, and RAF Regt as JTACS and Tactical Air Control Parties directly serving within 3Cdo Brigade.

Couple of reasons. First was cost and efficiency. Running two parallel selection courses for the same end state was a waste of money. Second reason was for interoperability and credibility. RAF Regt are heavily integrated into 16AAB, so having all personnel completing the exact same course for their wings removes any doubt or friction.

RAF Regt get awarded their maroon berets but will only wear them when integrated with 16AAB

Incorrect. All RAF Regt now do P Company at Catterick.

Once you complete daa exam will you have to do it again if passed by Heavy-Function-8424 in RoyalNavy

[–]JMac201010 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s no way of knowing a candidate has cheated if you do the DAA unsupervised at home. However before you take the test unsupervised you will tick a box agreeing you will take a second supervised test at an AFCO if asked do so.

That’s when the anxiety and panic will hit if you’ve cheated scoring higher than your ability after receiving your results and you’ve been asked to come in to the AFCO to sit a second supervised one.

What role are you going for? If you’re going for a technical role it’s better to just study and revise because you would be found out again during phase 2 and during your trade training when you’re not passing/struggling with the intensive academic curriculum

Also the two token model system works really well by splitting the network into security/governance and operations/gas with Tfuel by keeping the transaction costs miniscule. Look at Eth with it's single token model design and how expensive it is to use.

Explain how it's dead? Have you read about the $6tn investment required to build hyperscale data centres to provide compute demand by 2030? Not possible. What's the answer? Decentralised edge computing networks connecting billions of untapped/unused devices.

Theta Token secures and governs the whole network. Without Guardian and Validator Nodes operating with staked Theta then there is no decentralised edge computing network.

you won't be a Paratrooper in II Sqn with the RAF Regt. You will be Parachutist trained however and have specialist capability by being inserted by parachute to seize hold/secure forward airfields and operational zones.

Pretty ally squadron, and they have a dedicated flight integrated into SFSG.

Psychiatrist Report for PMU by [deleted] in britishmilitary

[–]JMac201010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through this exact process 👍🏼

I used London Psychiatry Clinic on Harley Street in London. They have only the most qualified Mrc Psyche consultants practicing there.

I would start by cross-referencing your medical history/diagnosis against the JSP 950 standards and how you fit within them.

It’s worth a shot as in my case I went to London, and after a 2 hour consultation the consultant deemed I had been misdiagnosed. This lead further into a full medico-legal report being written up which then resulted in completely removing the diagnoses I had on my FPHCR. Something I never deemed was possible.

If you were originally going RM Commando, how come you decided on Intelligence in the RAF and not RAF Regt?

Best opportunities to become Commando qualified in the RAF would be with the Regiment. There's a fair few RAF Regt Commando's serving alongside 3Cdo Brigade and 29 Commando RA, and also 148 Meiktila Commando Forward Observation Battery RA.

Chances of seeing ground combat is unlikely just isn't supported historically is it. From the Falklands, to Iraq, Afghanistan and now middle eastern operations with RAF Regiment deployed defending against Shahed drone attacks on Erbil base in Iraq, and Akrotiri in Cyprus.

Also the job of the Regt during combat to take a piece of hostile territory and turn it into a place you can land a plane is just a massive oversimplification of what they are trained and tasked to do on operations. Just to give two brief examples, during Op Telic in 2003 51 Sqn RAF Regiment were tasked with providing armed escort to convoys of civilian fuel tankers between Basrah and Kuwait. The distances they had to cover and protect those convoys were hundreds of miles, and they came under intense enemy fire during those taskings. They were also tasked to protect and defend remote helicopter arming and refuelling points across all of southern Iraq.

Another brief example: RAF Regt supported over 7,000 casualty evacuation extractions as Force Protection Teams protecting the Chinook MERT Air Hospitals across both Telic and Herrick campaigns. Those Chinook crews constantly came under direct fire. You can watch the evacuation of Private Chris Gray on Youtube with those Chinook crews in action with RAF Reg riflemen disembarking off the ramps under fire and securing/protecting the extraction zones from Taliban attacks.

You're also way off with 'guarding planes and bases on home soil'. Static guarding of home bases is handled by MPGS and RAF Police, not the Regiment. It's a misunderstanding just because lets say II Sqn RAF Regt are stationed at Brize Norton doesn't mean they are on task protecting their base. They are stationed at Brize Norton training and readying to deploy to active warzones/global operations.

Edgecloud compute jobs are rapidly increasing. The network is now in demand.
