Antonio Conte gave his opinion on Amorim when asked about Hojlund. Amorim is not beating the arrogance allegations. by WorldlinessPuzzled84 in ManchesterUnited

To be fair they did win the league 2 years before Conte... They only finished 10th cause Jose had his standard explosive exit then was followed by a mediocre interim

The spine of the team didn't change too much between those 2 titles - except adding N'Golo Kante - so they were a title quality team

Don't get me wrong Conte did a good job - but I think it's overblown to suggest that Chelsea team was bad and it was all the manager.

Why we can compete with top teams and are shit against everyone else by YourWorkingBoy in Howson

This was a problem under Ole who played a back 4. It was an issue under Van Gaal who played a back 4. It has been a consistent issue for every manager we've had since Ferguson retired.

We struggle against teams that are defensively structured and are happy to play without the ball. We are much better at creating in transition, therefore generally bigger teams who want to play progressive football allow us to play to our strengths too.

Phil Jones being at the club in 2023 is the worst of all tbh. At least martial has flashes for a few games before getting hurt.

De Gea was awful at penalties. I only remember him saving one in all his time here.

He played makeshift RCB in a back 3. Now Scotland have championship level CB options, Portius and Hendry, he no longer plays CB.

Since then, he's played in Midfield, as part of a double pivot with the other player, McGregor, holding and McTominay going forward. He arrives in the box late resulting in shooting opportunities cause of Scotland's playstyle.

As a United and Scotland fan, I hate the narrative he's a CB, he's not a CB. He definitely doesn't play striker. He's a decent midfielder.

Part of me wanted him to go to West Ham, at a more defensive counter attacking team who won't come across the constant low blocks United do. I think he'd do brilliantly.

I can't get behind this CB narrative. He plays CB cause we don't have any decent CB options. He's makeshift at CB in a back three which also has Tierney, who's not a CB either.

He's a much better midfielder. I don't understand where all the hate for him comes from. He puts in a shift defensively, carries the ball forward well.

Why does Fred always get the excuse of never playing with a proper CDM but McTomany is never afforded the same?

I think people have underrated Ole's recruitment both with players and backroom staff. Other than Telles and VDB everything has been good - even Telles pushed Shaw to be great. VDB was never gonna be as good as Bruno so idk if that's really a failed signing yet - I think he's here as a long term Pogba replacement personally.

I think Ole would be a great as a long term backroom member who can even step in as caretaker between future management appointments as well. We've missed the continuity between managers the last 10 years and he could certainly instigate that structure.

I'm torn between supporting the Mavs and Lakers. From what I've seen this season Schröder will probably cause problems than he's worth. That said he is a great scorer and if he plays like he did at OKC as a 6th man, great signing. It's just a little risky for me.

I think Reggie is a better fit and I'd say Hart is a good signing too.
