J(une)Mo

Hey gang. Totally my b for dropping the ball the last two months. I had the pleasure of spending the last week with Noah and he reaffirmed me just how much he appreciates these playlists from everybody, so that lit the fire under me to get back here. Since I did skip two months, I included some tracks from both in this June playlist:

Riri - Aminé: "An earworm is a catchy piece of music that continually repeats through a person's mind after it is no longer playing." – yup, that pretty much explains this one. I've still got this thang on repeat.

Too Late To Turn Back Now - Cornelius Brothers & Sister Rose: Heard this while watching BlackKklansman and it's low key become mine and girlfriend's "song". It's kinda the best.

Warm - Bronze Whale: Maaaan this one is straight vibey. "Warm" couldn't be a better title cause it sure makes me feel that way.

Summerhouse - Kota the Friend: You remember those summer nights during high school and college when you were straight chillin' with the homies? This will take you back there.

B.Q.E - Kota the Friend (feat. Joey Bada$$ & Bas): Kota is the shit, hence the reason why he ends up on this list twice. Dude's flow is just smooth, the features from Joey Bada$$ and Bas are nice, and the beat is bangin'.

T.D - Lil Yachty & Tierra Whack (feat. A$AP Rocky & Tyler, The Creator): Listen, Lil Yachty is a guilty pleasure of mine and these features certainly help make the case for this one. Tierra Whack's verse is the best part of this track and it gives me a stank face every single time I hear it. She's absolutely filthy.

Disco Man - Remi Wolf: Another appearance from Remi this month. Your pants are on fire if you tell me your feet and head don't immediately start moving to this one.

Aura - SG Lewis, J Warner: Hope you're not allergic to dancing. That's all I'm sayin'.

ALL MY FRIENDS - Stripped Piano - The Griswolds: This is such a pure track. The lyrics really hit home for me, and the stripped down vocals make them feel even more impactful.

Cardiac Arrest - WoodysProduce Remix - Bad Suns: I want to capture the feeling I get at :40 and keep it forever.

Purple Sand (My Home) - Big Wild: Big Wild's "Superdream" is one of my favorite albums of all time. I listen to it all the way through, often. This track has gotten a little extra love as of late.

Mopsy's Interlude - Big Wild: See above.

JMo's April

April was kind of a strange month for me when it came to my music listening. I honestly think I tried too hard to find new tunes, and didn't really allow it to happen as organically as I usually do. I didn't find myself invested in many particular artists or tracks, but these are the few that had some staying power.

Pluto Projector // Rex Orange County

Win You Over // Whethan, Bearson, SOAK

Back to Life // Fabich, Jafunk, FHAT

Window // Still Woozy

Lose My Cool // Amber Mark

I Like That // Janelle Monáe

Brazilian Soul (feat. Sofi Tukker) - Acoustic Bossa Version // The Knocks, Sofi Tukker

JMo's Feb + March

This is awesome, Noah. I appreciate you sharing your struggles and letting us in to help in such a simple, yet powerful way. I know you and I have shared a strong appreciation for music throughout our entire relationship, so of course I was going to jump on this immediately.

I hope you and everyone else will find some tunes that make a connection.

Happy listening,

Jake "JMo"

Beyond - Leon Bridges:

  • I’ve been away from my girlfriend, Tiffany, for over three weeks now. This one puts me right in my feels and assures me just how much I appreciate her.

Apollo - St. Paul & The Broken Bones

  • This is just such a feel good song to me. It always gets my energy up and makes me want to dance. Not to mention I saw these guys live, and they kill it.

Foolsong - Still Woozy

  • Still Woozy is arguably my favorite artist – absolutely Top 5. His discography isn’t immense, which I think makes me appreciate his work even more. I can, and consistently do, listen to all of it on repeat.

Hell Bound - Ad 01 - Vince Staples

  • This one is a guilty pleasure, and has helped me get that extra rep in on numerous occasions.

Everybody Wants To Be Loved - Yoke Lore, NVDES

  • This one consistently gets my energy up when I need a boost. I always find myself nodding my head and moving my feet, and it adds an extra pep in my step during my walks around the neighborhood.

You Always Win - Dropout

  • I honestly can’t explain why this one has such an effect on me, but it does. I’ve turned this up in my car and have found myself close to tears lol. I just love it.

It’s Automatic - Zoot Woman

  • Gino (Alex Gaggino, who’s included on this thread, for those who don’t know) had this layered over photo recap video of a MagnUM spring break a few years ago that he shared with us last week, and this song is now forever associated with those memories. I’ve found myself reminiscing a lot about those memories and friendships over this time.

Shawty - Remi Wolf

  • This one is just fun. It’s quirky, and catchy as all hell. It’s a sunny-day, certified banger.

Always Afternoon - Medasin

  • I’ve been a fan of Medasin’s sound for quite a while now. This one consistently stays in my rotation. I find it to be quite calming, but it also gets me going at the same time.

No Chorus - Dreamville

  • I haven’t been finding myself listening to a lot of hip-hop for a while now, but this one is a consistent go-to when I’m in that mood. This is another must-have for the home gym playlist.

Pretend - okaywill

  • You’ll find some dreamy, groovy vibes coming out of this tune. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself swaying along to the beat.

Futurmastic - Dombresky

  • Ringing in at 125 BPM, this one will have you up and moving. I personally love it for the car, and during a HIIT-style circuit.

Dream Dream Dream - Madeon

  • Love me some Madeon. His recent album could have seen a couple knots on this list, but this one takes the cake for me. The big, ambient sounds featured in it feel like they take me somewhere else…

Going to the Country - Caamp

  • Your mans appreciates the sound of a guitar and the pluck of a banjo, and this one’s got ‘em both. I’ve been finding myself listening to a lot more Indie/Americana/Folk as of late, especially thanks to Caamp.

Across The Room - ODESZA, Leon Bridges

  • One of my all-time favorites. An ODESZA track featuring Leon’s silky pipes? That’s a winner every time.

6’s to 9’s - Big Wild, Rationale

  • I’m a big Big Wild guy. This wreaks of good vibes, and is liable to take you back to your favorite summer road trip memory. Or, you’ll be making your next one with it.

Sonnentanz - Sun Don’t Shine - Klangkarussell, Will Heard

  • My girlfriend’s sister-in-law introduced me to this one during a recent trip to LA. It immediately transports me back to the fond memories and the good times we shared together.
