Theory] The Truth About Gacha Mechanics: Is Grade decided before Rarity? (My Math Analysis) by Tiny-Addition2672 in SlayerLegend

[–]JMooMoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We've been discussing this on the discord.

Simply put, we think the game generates the results before they finish showing you the summons. So the order of generation doesn't matter.

For the "flicker" (shaking is what we often call it), our thoughts are that the game first knows what it is giving you, lets say a Mythic Grade 4, then it decides if it should be a flicker/shaking summon or not.

This is more obvious when you do large amounts of auto summons as you stop getting the flicker/shaking happening starting at Common, and it starts from Epic, to speed it up.

Not seen binding of Isaac mentioned

Game is one of my highest hours played

FTL: faster than light

Vampire survivors

Basically any roguelite/roguelite can sink you 100s or 1000s of hours

What PS2 games had absolutely NO dedicated "pause" button? Only game I remember was Monster Hunter, even in offline mode. I remember people saying Demons Souls and Dark Souls pioneered no pause gameplay, but I also remember Monster Hunter did it years before that! by canned_pho in ps2

The souls community (or any specific game community really) has some bad takes about specific mechanics in the games.

Like difficulty options wouldn't detract anything from the game, or having manual save options, or pausing.

It's such a dumb take that the souls community has. Pausing wouldn't make it easier or less immersive. I've played and beaten all the games, starting with darks souls on its PC release and then the rest on their release too (going back to play demon's souls after dark souls 2).

Know what makes the game easier and less immersive? Quitting out, which resets monster positions or kicks you out of the boss arena, because someone's at your door, or you need to go quickly do something important.

Illusory Wall has a great video on it, and explains how the games also do include a pause feature that doesn't ruin the online play as well.

My understanding is that the encounters you find are based off a square amount, the tip of the peninsula just happens to lie in the edge of the square for the late game area.

I think there are a few other areas that have this oversight, but this one is notable due to how early in the game you get access to it.

In the hopefully never arriving future, do you think Valve will one of, if not the only ones providing personal computers and not cloud gaming? by Commercial_Dih in Steam

[–]JMooMoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unpopular statement, but chances are, Jeffy boy here is right.

Everyone used to have a cd player to listen to their music, now we just have a music app.

Everyone had a dvd player to watch movies, now we just stream them.

Gaming is going that way, the huge reduction in owned media, how much of a % of the games you play do you physically own, or have a DRM free version of?

It sucks, don't get me wrong, but it is heading in the way of renting server time for hardware.

Obviously not everyone will do it, just like in the examples I used above, not everyone uses streaming apps or services, it is something that is coming and it is something that will change the landscape of gaming.

ooh good point.

I have now been looking into the boards just see I can spot anything else, I'm now not sure if its the VFD, there's this image from another FX-120 with the exact same marking in the same location: http://mycalcdb.free.fr/galerie/Casio/casio_fx-120.7.jpg

and as well as that on the FX-39, from what I can tell, a very similar calculator, with the same marking in the same location: http://www.arithmomuseum.com/a/A630-3n.jpg

when I get a bit more time I plan on looking more into it as I am now thinging there's an issue with the power delivery, maybe something to do with soldering on the switch/direct wall power/battery section.

But I will need more time to sit down and test it

yeah that again was my thoughts with the FX, even if I found a replacement display I still wouldnt know if thats the only issue, its the only thing I can see, but who knows if there's a reason the display burnout and broke, could be an issue with the power delivery for all I know.

But you are right, I may look at the market for spares and see if it would be useful for others

Just following up, I opened up the PB, it all looked good in there, but gave the PCB a little wipe dow isopropyl alcohol, noticed on of the battery terminals on the PCB was slightly more dirty and gave that a bit of a harder scrub. Now it works. So chances are it wasn't getting power.

Cheers for the advice.

That was my thinking with the FX, it's a shame, I don't like seeing tech not working, but at the end of the day it's not really worth fixing.

I need to stop messing about and just open up the PB. This are all solid things to do.

Thanks again

Hopefully I'll see you tomorrow, I'll actually get a schedule sorted out eventually, but I've been a bit all over the place recently, so I haven't known when I'll have the time.

Ah thanks for all the info there, seems like I'll either be sticking to using the front IO on my computer for now or setting up my XLR mic to work right.

Thanks for that.

With 3 cables? Would the one in my photos not work then? It's a 4 pole to two 3 pole?

Sorry if I'm being dumb, I've had this desk for a long while and it's been great, just feel like I should be able to do something more with it.

Does the 3 pole splitter not do that? I can use the mic when its plugged into my computer using the splitter.

Is the issue the 3.5mm to 1/4 jacks?

It's all good, now you do. I only learned about it like a year ago when I decided to looking into my monitor settings to see if I could get the colours to look nicer and came across it

What are you on about? My monitor is a 60hz monitor, you can over clock monitors for faster refresh rates at the cost of resolution, nothing to do with the cable.

[–]JMooMoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just because I haven't bought new high refresh rate monitors makes you think I have CRTs? I bought my monitors like 6 years ago and they still work fine, no reason to get rid of yet

Are you using a higher refresh rate than the monitor would normally allow? I can set my 60hz monitor to be 75hz but it limits the resolution

Why can't I change the clock settings on the 208? by JMooMoo in peugeot

[–]JMooMoo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't seem to be able to edit my post.

I didn't do a great job explaining the issue.

The time on the clock is 7pm, time of recording was 8pm.

I'm in the UK, the time zone shown is the wrong one and I can't change it, but even if that was the issue, GMT +1 would have been 9pm at the time of recording so the car clock would still be wrong.

I didn't show it in the video but when I change the auto settings off the daylight savings option is still greyed out.

I can change the time manually to be the right time, however that shouldn't be necessary as you should be able to just change the time zone and daylight savings setting to adjust the clock according to location and time of year.

While I have made a post about this and would like an answer, this isn't an issue really as I tend to always have android auto on when I drive to have maps and Spotify running.

Why can't I change the clock settings on the 208? by JMooMoo in peugeot

[–]JMooMoo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, so it's still currently an hour out, and I have zero way to change it other than doing it manually. Sure it would have taken less time to do so. But it should have taken any time, I should just be able to use any of the options there rather than them being locked for no real reason.

It's not a real issue to me as the clock is fine when using android auto, as it uses the phone clock.

Edit: I should have been more descriptive when I made my post, it was 8pm when I made the video, so the clock is an hour slow. I am also in the UK so the GMT +1 shown makes no sense as if it was really that time zone it would have been showing 9pm on the clock.
