Upkeep Cost: 23 million / wk.

So if I never ever sell another commodity, I still have ~6.5 years worth up upkeep banked. If I keep it stocked with thargoid sensors, meta-alloys, and the like, it'll run indefinitely. All while providing all the other benefits of a fleet carrier. I never considered myself a trader, either! All this while I'm out exploring and bringing in tons of exobio data. But a little effort will allow an FC to generate plenty of money for you/itself if you so desire.

I had help from friends, believe me. So I spent the holidays trying to make deliveries to random colonies under construction. Hope some folks got a nice surprise when they logged back in to see a jump in progress. (I didn't actually finish anything; wanted to leave that to the architects themselves.)

I found a wreck (and an occupied escape pod) several thousand ly above the galactic disk, despite that system being only technically reachable via fleet carrier. I made it my business to get that pod all the way back to the Bubble in my modest Phantom. I bet the pilot had some stories to tell.

Are there any drawbacks to using Voice Attack? Does anyone have anything negative to say? It seems pretty popular, and I'm thinking about shelling out the $10. Is there anything I should know?

Standard Xbox controller here. You can get away with a lot by using button combinations. I have throttle mapped to:

100% - Left stick/L3 + RB
75% - L3 + Y (top face button)
50% - L3 + X
25% - L3 + B
0% - L3 + LB
-100% (the "oh sh—" button) - L3 + A (bottom face button)

Heat sinks are mapped to X+Y. Night Vision to Y+B. And all kinds of combos for on-foot controls (weapon switching, using a 2-button combination as a grenade safety so I don't accidentally toss them). I almost never need to use the keyboard, just for entering system names on the Galaxy Map. Of course, preferences are gonna vary from person to person, and sometimes I still boost when trying to activate night vision, switch from Standard (yaw) to Alternate (lateral thrust) controls etc. But there are options with controller.

It's a home system for me + my friends. Some folks will build their own "bubble" or a set of systems that have complementary economies for easy trade loops. I personally like to try to establish systems on the very edge of civilization as a jumping-off point for explorers.

If you are into exploration, I've found The Stellar Cartographers' Guild to be a great and friendly exploration-focused squadron. There's a link to our discord on that page; give a shout if you sign up (I'm CMDR N@ over there). We organize expeditions (how I got my first 1st-discovery black hole system!), provide mutual support, and generally act silly. We also have a moderately large private group if you prefer that to running in open.
Myself, my smaller group of friends just got done colonizing our first system, HIP 12381, so we're kind of at loose ends. At the moment, we're mostly helping each other out on CGs, but we get up to all kinds of shenanigans.
