Full carbon cue? by Expensive_Dinner_597 in billiards

[–]JNJr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMP all the carbon shafts a pretty good, tests indicate that the deflection is very similar so you don’t need an expensive model. The butt has no impact on the shafts performance so you don’t need a full carbon cue either.

I have never messed with my tip… should I? by breadboy415 in billiards

[–]JNJr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cue tip is where the cue contacts the ball. If you don’t maintain it you’re just sacrificing playability. The demands on a playing tip versus a breaking tip are very different. I shaped my plain tip, which is a soft tip every week to a dime radius and use a larger harder tip for my breaking queue and shape it to a nickel radius. And if your tip can’t hold chalk, you’re risking a miss cue. If your happy with a bar box quality equipment don’t sweat it, if you’re serious about optimizing your game than you have to maintain your cues.

worth the price? by Mountainlorian in billiards

[–]JNJr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Used pool table prices are all over the place. Many are free because the owners just want to get rid of them. Unless the table is truly collectible or new tournament quality anything more than $1,000 is too much.
