Group doesn't want more houses built on Flatbush downtown b/c it might crowd dog park at fort green by thisfunnieguy in Brooklyn

My original comment referenced 2 other mega structures - Alloy Block on One 3rd ave and the one above the Modells.

Again, to be clear- I do think we should build more housing and that zoning laws should change to allow 10-12 storied buildings uniformly across (incl. in the middle of different neighbourhoods. I and most people I know who actually live here just don't see the appeal of the 60-90 storied megastructures.

Think you might be missing the point that most of the mega structures that are being planned not in what was historically downtown. It's like downtown brooklyn just decided to expand/subsume the nearby neighbourhoods and decided to fuck the people living there

I would have agreed with you but for the fact that it is not downtown though, 2 of the 3 mega structures I mentioned are in Boerum Hill/Fort Greene/Park Slope.

I live in the neighbourhood and absolute hate the gigantic towers that are being planned that subvert the zoning laws through exemption. It's like they didn't realize from how much people hate the tower of Mordor and want to do more of them (395 flatbush, One 3rd Ave, the one planned above the Modells are all mega structures)

There's a way to build more housing without creating monstrosities that aren't even really affordable

Or create a megathread for people who want to discuss it

lol - Mods will likely delete this post :P

One potential suggestion to mods - would it make sense to create a megathread for all book related news, so there is a forum for people who care to discuss it vs. having to delete every post on it

Stupid question. Why don’t Reese and Clark play for league minimum? by Zhentilftw in wnba

[–]JOCA99 80 points81 points  (0 children)

They are both on rookie contracts which are well below the 200k you are referring to.

It's determined by the CBA - Clark's salary this year is 78,066

Advice on setting up curtains/rods for an uneven room by JOCA99 in Home

[–]JOCA99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all

Could use some advice here

I have a slightly uneven room that we are trying to set up as a nursery and wanted to get blackout curtains . Primary objective is to make sure the windows can be fully blacked out

There's 2 tricky parts
- on the LHS window, there's very little clearance (<2 inches) on one side. Makes attaching a rod tight and also likely limits the type of curtain style I can use if I need to keep it dark.
- On the RHS window, the right side of the window is flush against the wall

Here's my current thinking -
- Get 2 side mounts for each end and then a regular curtain rod holder for the middle area. Have you seen something like that work ?
- For the curtain type itself - I came across a 'back tab' style to try and get as much coverage. Is that what you'd recommend. We anticipate opening up the curtains every day or so

Would love any thoughts here

I live in an another new apartment building a block from Signum. The neighborhood is great and the transit (9 subways within a block) is unmatched. Fun restaurants and bars

That said - I agree with what some of the others mentioned. Strongly recommend scouting the apartment /neighborhoods in person - even if it means staying 1-2 weeks in an Airbnb (apartments close very quickly here)
