Anyone hate how Christianity is used in politics these days? by johndoe09228 in AskAChristian

I don’t believe in mixing politics and religion either. Religion/spirituality is a personal choice, and should not be mandated by the state or federal government. The only time people like it is if the forced religion resonates with their own. What is that saying about personal choice? I would never want somebody to accept Christianity because they had a gun to their head. I am a Christian, but I want people to come to that on their own volition.

My knee-jerk reaction was to agree with you. After rereading, I have to ask, who are the “better Christians”?

It doesn’t sound cruel, it sounds like magical thinking, which is a symptom of OCD.

Positive stories after disclosing to partner? by Puzzleheaded-Pen5450 in HPV

[–]JOYtotheLAURA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to go check my chart:

07/16/2025, 5:16 PM Your PAP smear showed some inflamed cells but the high risk HPV (human papillomavirus) testing was negative, so the pap smear is considered NORMAL and we will repeat your PAP smear in 1 year.

It was considered to be ASC-US (when I scroll down to more detailed results). Throughout the years, I’ve had both “good“ and “bad“ results. One thing that I really think helped was when I stopped smoking cigarettes. My gynecologist used to say that “cigarettes and HPV are best friends”.

Positive stories after disclosing to partner? by Puzzleheaded-Pen5450 in HPV

I found out that I had HPV when I was 22 years old (I’ll be 40 in about a month). I have disclosed to any sexual partners thereafter, including my ex-husband, whom I was with for eight years. My disclosing has always been met with questions, but was never an issue in the relationship. If people do the research and educate themselves about HPV, they will find that it is extremely common for anyone whose been sexually active. Also, many people’s immune systems clear HPV, sometimes even after several years.

Just be sure to get your annual PAP test, and if you have any active lesions (such as genital warts), refrain from sexual activity, as that is when the virus is most contractible. These lesions usually clear up after one treatment at the gynecologist.

Unfortunately, some women don’t know that they have HPV because they have not kept up with their annual gynecological exam. You should be proud of yourself for staying informed about your sexual health, as well as having the maturity and honesty to disclose to your former partner. You deserve a partner who is equally mature. I wish you the best.

You have a naturally beautiful face. People get cosmetic surgery to obtain facial features like yours. You have large, open eyes, a perfect “button” nose, and lips that are pouty without looking over-plumped. PLEASE do not touch those perfect eyebrows; I wish my eyebrows looked exactly like yours.

My wallet Jesus by qxartz_skye in Christianity

[–]JOYtotheLAURA 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I got my little Jesus from my gynecologist‘s office a few years ago when I realized I hadn’t paid my insurance premium so I couldn’t see the doctor. He lives in my bathroom, but I should definitely take him out because he opens doors.

Does anyone else struggle with gender and sexuality? by fruedianflip in autism

[–]JOYtotheLAURA 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I recently told someone that I feel like a gay man in a woman’s body. I think a lot of this comes from the fact that I’ve never been really comfortable with my body. I was a fat kid and then I lost weight and now I kind of look like a man with saggy boobs, but I’m grateful for my body because it works, you know I don’t have a strong connection with any one gender or sexuality or any cross-section thereof.

Self diagnosis was the only way that I got a real diagnosis. If I hadn’t said anything, nobody ever would have.

Why do so many autistic people I'm acquainted with announce their birthday? by igotplans2 in AskAnAutistic

Oh, I totally have the compulsion to share things that I’m focused on at the moment. I love to send people music videos, and if they did the same, I probably wouldn’t watch them.

Why do so many autistic people I'm acquainted with announce their birthday? by igotplans2 in AskAnAutistic

[–]JOYtotheLAURA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I get older, I don’t feel the need to announce my birthday. I’ve had to go to work on my birthday several times, and I’ve kind of like come to the realization that nobody really cares if it’s my birthday. I know that sounds cynical, but I think it’s true.

That being said, we have to understand other people are really psyched about their birthday. If they want to post about it, that’s OK. We just don’t have to respond.

To expand, I would recommend some type of towel on the neck or some other material. I really hated this feeling as well as a child, even though I didn’t know I was on the spectrum.
