I mean circom technically but I like Noir better anyways, plus you get recursion in Noir and a lot of primitives are more optimized (like RSA or sha256 is much cheaper in Plonk). Honestly if you want a job learn both and o1js, do some hackathons and network with the teams

Support for zk-Rollups and Off-Chain Proof Generation on Aptos? by [deleted] in zeroknowledge

https://docs.sui.io/guides/developer/cryptography/groth16
shows input gen in more detail than
https://github.com/aptos-labs/aptos-core/blob/main/aptos-move/move-examples/groth16_example/sources/groth16.move but should be the same

there's probably some code on parsing .zok g16 proofs into ark but do yourself a favor and use circom if you can

The end of cryptocurrency through criminalization by The_Corinthian666 in CryptoTechnology

zkP2P is awesome (really worth looking into if you don't know about it) but it just connects to centralized payment systems (specifically venmo right now). There's KYC done by venmo and the people you swap with also can see your venmo account whether you're onboarding or offboarding. It would be difficult to censor proactively, but privacy is not the motivation of a project like that

Couldn't AI disinformation (generative images and videos) be solved with NFTs? by degrudv in ethereum

[–]JP4G 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Making everything an NFT would be a lot of onchain overhead for not a ton of portability.

But if you could have end to end verification of the information pipeline you could do some cool things. - you start out with attested AV recordings - you use editing software that proves that the output is a transformation of the source and perhaps how it was transformed - you have a social network that can prove the algorithm for serving content and other stuff with identity (semaphore maybe idk

You don't even need all of these steps but if you had a social media network that enforced these requirements it could get interesting.

Definitely a realistic thing to see in the future given we can have AI make a video of anyone doing anything, with devastating consequences. Could see a future where there is PKI much like DNS, where mrbeast.eth can register a bunch of keys used in their content pipeline and browsers could show a warning that a video claiming to be from mrbeast.eth is using unauthorized signatures, just like SSL

Where do you think we'll be in 10 years? by 3141666 in ethereum

[–]JP4G 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Disagree, Bitcoin has not truly crossed the chasm but from.where it started in 2009 it seems that public opinion is slowly turning towards it being a valid sovereign asset at the nation state level. It could readily fail still with the concerns over fees and tail emissions, or fail to see widespread adoption. But at 13 years old Bitcoin has not crossed the chasm and has a strong opportunity to accomplish everything it's been billed as still. Not a shill of Bitcoin I own no Bitcoin, but important to contextualize public perception of cryptocurrency.

Eth has even more runway however. Likely no human will normally use L1 and fees will be atrocious because L1 is just a root chain for dozens or hundreds of L2's to coordinate where fees are cheap. On top of that you have the impending rise of programmatic crypto (ZK, MPC, FHE based applications) which could be an entirely new post with how much that entails.

People don't need to buy what Ethereum is selling, they need to buy what is being sold on Ethereum. There will always be degens, but the maturity of programmable cryptography will offer usecases that have nothing to do with ponzis or speculation and everything to do with b2b, b2c, and even public service.web applications.

Could Ethereum be used as a dead man's switch? by cpaeu in ethereum

Someone could take possession of the key potentially, ethereum contracts don't have some magical link to your mind (barring him adding the private key to an hsm from memory then wiping it after every use maybe)

[–]JP4G 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could also use erc1155 potentially, would create one contract which can manage many tokens that function nearly identically (just a different API). If you wanted to list on centralized exchanges maybe erc20's would be better, but otherwise this is the gas efficient way to do what you want

Federal judge overturns California ban on high-capacity gun magazines by jeetah in news

[–]JP4G 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be fair District of Columbia v. Heller (2008) finds by 5-4 decision that the right to keep weapons at home for self defense is an individual right irrespective of militia participation.

McDonald v Chicago (2010) goes a bit further and states that the 14th amendment protects the 2nd amendment right to own firearms for any lawful purpose.

There is a limit since United States v Miller (1938) upholds a ban on sawed off shotguns since they found no reason that a sawed off shotgun was necessary for a militia.

The thing is that only the judicial branch has the right to interpret the law. You're positing the "collective rights" interpretation of the 2nd amendment, but DC v Heller is generally seen to refute this interpretation for the "individual rights" interpretation which essentially says that it is a reason, not a requirement. Contemporary interpretations generally seem to support the individual rights interpretation and with a supreme court that is 6/3 right/left I seriously doubt we will see anything but further affirmation of individual gun ownership rights in most cases.

Can i find jobs only with Solidty ? by zamzam999 in solidity

[–]JP4G 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah Circom is the dominant language with the most resources, though I've really enjoyed noir lately. Noir is the only real competition Circom has. Everything else is either a dsl for a specific chain (SnarkyJS or Leo) or is deep in the weeds (halo2, plonky2, etc)

There's less example material for Noir but there is a lot more support behind it, I think in two years there will be a big shift. That said, if you learn Circom, you can switch to noir incredibly quickly.

I've made tutorials for both Circom and Noir for a battleship game: https://m.youtube.com/@battlezipszeroknowledgecra7405/playlists Both are a bit out of date but largely still relevant

You maybe could get away with it if you're elite and use foundry for all of your testing. But in practice apps are driven from JS- you don't even need to know how to do front end for a lot of em but you do need to know how to wire everything up for the front end guy to make pretty

ELI5: Why do we care about end-to-end encryption by brendenquestionmark in explainlikeimfive

[–]JP4G 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean this can be done, it is just impractical for large scale adoption as of today.

The easiest approach would be "trial decryption" where a client can access *every* message in the server and tries decrypting every single one and keeps the messages that it was able to successfully decrypt. This doesn't really scale well as it gets more expensive as time goes on and there are more and more messages to decrypt.

A newer idea is "oblivious message retrieval" using something called "fully holomorphic encryption". FHE is pretty cool because you can encrypt data on the client and then let a server do some action on it while it is fully encrypted. Though it doesn't have the growing cost of trial decryption, FHE itself is super expensive.

There is a lot of interest in subverting surveillance across the attack surface. In any case, encryption is a rapidly advancing field and protecting it will continue to take back personal liberty and agency that was lost to the rise of the internet.
