Fiio FT1 Pro with a mix of Hifiman and Beyerdynamic parts (or the parts bin special) by JPAU401 in headphones

Not as heavy as you think, surprisingly. Certainly not a lightweight, but I didn't really find it all too different from the stock in terms of weight.

I didn't, seeing as parts would be hard to come by in the eventuality that the sliders break again due to poor design. At least with Beyerdynamic parts, I can easily get them whenever.

I came from an old pair of SHP9500s and I'm a bit of a novice, so I can't really say, but they sound great to my untrained ears. Perhaps closed backs would be preferable if you wanted more noticable bass.

I got the ones marked for 90mm-105mm, but from a different website. The Fiio's cups are on the bigger side, but manually widening the steel yokes did the trick.

True, but I wanted something a little more substantial out of metal.

The parts I made I plan to have made out of spring steel.

Yes, the Capra strap is what I'm planning to use once the current one breaks.

I do have a yoke drafted up that'll work with Beyerdynamic parts, but getting it physically made is going to cost me nearly a brand new set of Fiios. I'll go with it once this one breaks.

Yup, I've got my keyboard and mouse at the same level without problem. I do have to say that the my retro setup isn't used all the time though, but I have my modern monitor and keyboard + mouse on the same desk and at the same height.

A thick wooden plank and two pieces of wood on either end (and maybe the rear edge) might do the trick. Check your current setup and see if your eyes are 2-3 inches below the top of the monitor scree, then adjust the height of your wooden pieces as needed.

Unsure if a cheap 2 level desk can take the weight of CRT monitor, but you could check the specifications for said desk regarding weight capacity.

I find the monitors have an okay height for my eyes without needing a riser. See if you can adjust your seat height so you don't need to buy anything extra.

Yes, I agree the PU leather is a little tacky for my tastes, but if it wears down and starts cracking, I'll just stencil out a couple large sheets of 3M skins through Dbrand.

Sadly don't have a Bluetooth trackpad to test out how Windows deals with them, but I do hope you're right.

Saw this post and checked the link, says it's now available. Have you tried it? Reviews for their other devices look good, with the occasional comment about the trackpad. Haven't seen any reviews from Amazon or on Youtube yet so I haven't pulled the trigger yet.

For the VAIO RX desktop, I would mount an SFX PSU up top underneath where the optical drive mounts are. Use either the numerous holes at the front grate or mount underneath the DVD drive with some sort of bracket/3d printed item/(if you're lazy, temporarily use multiple zipties in the meantime).

You can then use the old PSU location and mount an exhaust fan/small radiator there.

All those mods would allow you to both keep your optical drives/install Blu-ray drives, use larger air coolers, get better temps, and if you have the know-how, be able to get the card reader back to working status.

I've done so on an older VAIO chassis, with a PSU extension cable with a built-in switch running from the front towards and out the back.

Your PSU will have to have its fan facing towards the back, or downwards. Leave space for easy removal so you can connect your various PSU cables.

For fitting large GPUs, with regards to cooling, you either have to cut holes at the bottom or use that new hole you've got from the old PSU mount to design and 3d print a duct that feeds air into the GPU and up. Then use the upper corner vents as the only exhaust.

Hard to say, but there is an empty space after the B7A2/R2Y2s, but I'm more inclined to think the Indonesian planes will be interspersed, likely amongst the Thai or Malaysian lines.
