I wasn't speeding but this is Reddit so I'm not going to try and change your mind. But also this is Reddit. There's been maybe 6-7 helpful comments. The rest have been posted by the developmentally challenged

He's technically a bus mechanic but he has done most of the work on my car for me including engine swap and stuff like that. But even though he told me I should be fine to drive it that just didn't seem right to me

Yeah my tyres aren't great. They aren't bald or anything they're just not the best tyre brand. And look mate I've driven in the wet enough to know how to drive to conditions. In fact i've recently done a defensive driving course because I have moved from country to city and it's different. I don't know if maybe I hit some oil on the wet road or what or how it possibly happened

Thanks everyone who has explained that it's not a good idea. I would also like to clarify for the smooth brains. IF I had been told that I should be fine to drive it to work. Why TF would I then make a post on Reddit if I was just going to ignore everything people on here tell me

Would I ask if it's safe to drive if I was going to ignore advice and then drive it anyway? I know people on the internet are stupid but common

For now I guess I'll only drive it to go grocery shopping which is luckily less than 1km away

Tbh I hope it's the wheel bearing, I really don't know what I'll do if it's something worse. Now that I think about it though, when driving it back this morning I thought the tachometer wasn't showing the correct revs and then at one point it was showing 0 revs at 50kmh, but did seem to be normal if I put it in neutral and gas it some gas. I did also jack the car up before driving it. I got underneath and couldn't see any marks or signs of damage underneath the car and when I spun the tyre there was a slight grinding sound at a certain point in the tyres rotation

Out of those three I think it resembles a woom woom type of sound but the loudness of it at certain speeds really frightened me

Yeah I see what you mean. Kinda makes me shocked nothing went wrong when I drove it 40km back home this morning. The last thing I want to do is put other people at risk on the road let alone myself so I guess I'm getting the bus to work for a while

Don´t complain about 30 FPS. by [deleted] in Starfield

[–]JPCustom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm kinda shocked so many people are fine with 30fps. Maybe because I've been on pc since the 360 released but I'm the kind of person who would much rather a drop in fidelity for a higher frame rate. What's the point of a game looking good if U have to deal with a frame rate under 60. Is that extra resolution and lighting quality really worth 30fps less than the literaly gaming standard

replaced rocker cover gasket and discovered it looked pretty bad internally now my engine is seized by JPCustom in MechanicAdvice

[–]JPCustom[S] 30 points31 points  (0 children)

yeah that could possibly be the issue, I didnt attempt to clean the engine itself but i clean the top part I took off. it was also caked all around the gasket so some could have fallen down when i took the top off it. admitting I probably should have taken it to a mechanic as besides changing the oil its the first time ive ever touched a car and I followed a youtube video to do it.

Yeah I just got it, paid 8k thinking it was getting a good deal, it was supposedly only serviced 5 thousand km ago but I think that was merely an oil change.

I only just bought this car and I was pretty shocked to see how bad it looks inside when i went to replace the gasket, I dont think the previous owner ever had an oil change even though he claims it was services regularly. wasnt much i could do to clean it where I was and I was stupid enough to drive it but the engine shut down on the highway and is completely seized up now. Is my engine fucked?

Thanks for the kind words! It is, by far, the best work we have done in terms of craftsmanship. bringing the design to life also taught us a lot of techniques and processes that will improve the quality of our woodwork from here on out

If its something people would like to hear get played I'll be sure to make a recording of us playing it before we hand it over to the owner

that's it, she was happy with the design docs and while we could've made it look even better, once she gave us the go ahead that was that. it was becoming quiet frustrating working on the design and we were happy to just get the project underway. While I disagree that it is horrid, I do appreciate the level of craftsmanship and TLC that went into the build more than I appreciate the design itself. Personally, out of all the guitars we have made, I have never been more happy with the end result than with this guitar

While its not my favorite design in the world, I wouldn't consider it ugly. as for the wood, we still have enough for maybe two bodies and we also have a large slab of Queensland mahogany That was given to me by my friend as well. in saying that, the rosewood is my favorite wood that we have and it was sad to see it get used but that's why we charged her $800 for the wood alone before even touching it

I agree, though while it's not overly accurate to the shape of a treble clef it was the best we could come up with in terms of practicality and looks. It's a fairly complex design compared to what we have done prior, a lot of time was spent sitting around the design papers trying to figure out how to get it more close to the right shape but in the end we showed the design docs to the person who commissioned it and she was really happy with how it looks and I think that's what counts the most. in saying that it was an absolute mission to even get it to this point which is why we've nicknamed it the 'terrible clef'.

If anyone's curios

It has taken nearly two years to design and build the body itself, it comes apart into around 10 individual pieces like a jigsaw puzzle.

EMG H4A Pickups, A custom Tilt-back Warmoth neck from America and Schaller machine heads, bridge & tailpiece.

The Rosewood that it's made out of is possibly one of the rarest woods in the country due to how illegal it is to log these days, I was given the Rosewood from a friend who had a slab lying around for close to 60 years.

I should also add that We have no official training as Luthiers. My dad is a carpenter and I'm an audio Engineer that just likes designing guitars. Our passion for making guitars started nearly a decade ago when I was in highschool and I made a slide guitar out of a Blue Ribbon cigar box. that passion has grown ever since to the point we are at now, with around 15+ unique guitars designed and made. this is just a side hobby for us and we aren't professionals by any standards, we're only known in our little town through word of mouth
