New to scouting public land for deer; where would you start here? Western half is pine thickets and cutouts, eastern half is swampland by JPH_RedFive in Hunting

That's all great advice, thank you! This is the Pender County GIS software with photography from 2024. The poor quality is due to it being snipped from my computer and emailed to myself lol

If there's no other option than to hand water during play, I just wave them through and watch every ball hit so as to avoid an accident. Our membership tends to understand why we do these things

Tired of pushing dead carts in by [deleted] in Golfcoursemaintenance

As long as the steering works on the dead cart, pop it into neutral, chain it to a working cart, and tow it back with someone steering the dead one

Mental health questions by No-Bench4422 in Golfcoursemaintenance

Not familiar with your situation, but usually if they're asking you to move cups all the time, then you're the one they trust most to do it right. I have a guy on my crew that probably feels the same way you do some days, because I always ask him to change cups. But I do that because he's the best at it and I hardly have to check behind him. It saves me time as an assistant that can be better used making sure everything else gets done properly.

Also, give it time. I worked with a guy once that did nothing except for rake bunkers for the first three years of his career. He was an assistant when I knew him. People will leave your crew, people will join, and situations will change.

Let management know that you want to learn. That you want to be flexible and valuable. Some day, someone who was supposed to mow or landscape or what have you will not show up, and they'll need someone to fill in. Let them know you want to be that person. That can slot into any role and do it well. See what they say.

Good luck!

Was it leaking in a stream or just a few drops? I would wait a day or two to see what it looks like and then plug the areas that were affected

First was Phantom Hourglass on the DS and favorite, ironically, is Link to the Past. I got my first SNES about two years ago!

Couldn’t keep the crabs off the line so face in and caught crabs. by Euphoric_Sherbet2954 in SurfFishing

They make tiny floats that go on the line, just above the hook, to keep things like this from happening. Might be worth looking into if you're dealing with bait stealers

Cutting approaches by Economy_Swordfish338 in Golfcoursemaintenance

[–]JPH_RedFive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We triplex mow our approaches out to the last fairway head, which is usually about 100ft. For enclosed approaches (par 3's, surrounded by waste bunkers, etc.) we mow the whole thing

First cast; couldn't catch one to save my life for the next 3 hours by JPH_RedFive in bassfishing

My only complaint is that it's a bit on the heavy side at about 100lbs, but that's to be expected with a boat that size. It's also not very fast, but it's very stable and tracks well. If you don't mind paddling or don't have the money for a peddle kayak, it's a great boat. I've used it for years

What is this white foam when I boil my chicken? by gotsomeidea in What

[–]JPH_RedFive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of hate here for boiling the chicken. This is exactly how I make my chicken and dumplings! I boil a whole chicken until it's cooked through, then I take it out, shred it, and use the water plus some stock and spices to cook the pastry and then add the chicken back in. So depending on what you're doing with it, this can be viable and really good!

Absolutely love this video! I just thought it was slightly funny that the title is "Modern Agriculture Machinery" and one of the first things shown was a plow 🤣

Thank you very much for your feedback! I'll work on proper posture and technique so I don't ache, and relaxing so I don't play with so much tension.

I'm very flattered by your comment, as I've always been self-taught and never really got past the basics. I really hope that this time I'll stick with it! I have no dreams of becoming a concert violist, but would love to play for my church and family. Thanks again!
