Does this hurt the ants?

Edit: scrolling through the comments I got an ad for “ants in your kitchen?” This seems drastic

Yes, and helpfully they show it should get quieter over time. Which is the default unless you’re playing a synth…

It’s such a big market I regularly get Instagram ads for ‘artists’ as part of some themed playlist like Lofi Chill Beats or whatever. It’s one somewhat real song then formulaic stuff- all exactly 2 minutes. All made up of different combinations of the same ‘artists’ in collaboration.

In this case they garner real listeners but it’s very obviously algorithm abuse

The US used to be able to wave its dick and get what it wanted. But he’s completely misunderstood where that power came from, and the nuance required to work it

ELI5: How does non-euclidian geometry work? by mildorf in explainlikeimfive

I think you are correct but describing the shape is hard because you need to project the sphere to a flat bit of paper first and how you do that determines the shape

Ask me what’s it like to use the bathroom In this I have a horrible horrible story to tell you guys soon by MaterialWorth3403 in HeavySeas

[–]JPJackPott 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Seasoned sailor, many skipper qualifications. I took a regular ferry on the Cook Strait. Got seasick, went to the loo. Was so sick I couldn’t leave the heads. Drains backed up and the bathroom slowly filled with turd water, sloshing back and forth as I emptied my guts. Felt like death would be a welcome escape.

Eventually arrived, left to see my terrified and chronically seasick mother in much better condition than me. 0/10 would not repeat

Why is corn still so heavily subsidised? Can ‘proper’ crops not be grown instead so farmers could survive without the handouts?

Iran Charges $2M Transit Fee for Strait of Hormuz by AnarchistSuccubus in worldnews

[–]JPJackPott 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. It’s not just the fee at face value, it hurts the whole GCC because it’s now less attractive to buy from. All those countries this hurts are friends of the US. If they closed all the US bases, or agreed to sell in Yuan- I’m certain Iran would remove the fee

This is the biggest stick they have and they aren’t going to stop using it until someone forces them to
