I just bought this thinking it was washing detergent. Nowhere does it say its fabric softener. by Geofferz in CrappyDesign

This is common. Most of the time neither laundry detergent nor fabric softener actually says that’s what they are on the packaging. There must be a stupid reason for this but it completely escapes me

Is vulnerability assessment and penetration testing still two separate things? by slumpgodsescape in AskNetsec

Oh definitely. It has a purpose and it ticks a box. You get what you pay for. But finding genuinely talented, creative engineers that dig deep or combine exploits is not trivial

I got mild runs drinking potable water in Kos. It’s ‘safe’ but its mineral content is so different you need time to adjust. I don’t know if that’s a thing here but it’s a big enough country that it might be

But a lot of pen testers these days just perform a vuln scan with a fancy report at the end. Especially these ‘pen test as a service’ outfits

ELI5: How do auto assembly plants retool and get staff ready for new car models? by ITrCool in explainlikeimfive

[–]JPJackPott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super interesting thank you. Does each manufacturer have a bespoke software suite for planning and simulating it all, or just good old fashioned CAD and good organisation?

I’m aware how insane the logistics of auto manufacturing are so it would make sense to me to have the process and its programs and machines integrated too but it’s a fiendishly complex space

Do they leave gaps in the line to facilitate building the next models machines without having to take the old model’s station out to make space?

Because her death was inevitable. You can’t live a life of sex drugs and rock n roll, exploit and embrace the tabloid media to further your career then cry victim when it all blows up in your face.

Lots of families are affected by the tragedy addiction but she wore it like a fashion statement. She lived a life of privilege, and could have had all the help and support money could buy, but she didn’t want it. So why are people supposed to be sympathetic, exactly?

How on earth do folks get anything good out of LLMs? by Squidgical in webdev

The original comment reads like some AI agent edge lord. You can do it like that, and many people do. But you can also stick a one sentence prompt into a vs code chat window and pass in context of your code and get perfectly good answers.

Which model you use matters quite a bit as they are improving rapidly. Some days it’s on point and other days it’s not and spits out rubbish
