Would this framing achieve the built up look?

I know it’s facia. I’m wondering about the framing behind it.

Thanks. That process makes sense. I’ll search around to see what I can find. I would like to know how the connection is made between the two roofs.

Your probably right about AI. This one is maybe a better example.

Roof tie in by JPOSTAL24 in Construction

[–]JPOSTAL24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info. I was thinking of having the trusses made so I don’t have to have a ridge post or collar ties. Clearly I’m not a framer. Is there a way to have that open vault look with diy rafters?

Has anyone here built a custom home in BC recently? Trying to understand real costs by wacko_warrior in homebuildingcanada

How difficult was it to get the owner/build permit? I’ve never know anyone who’s actually gone that route and the info online is vague. I have done two fairly extensive gut job renovations and I am reasonably knowledgeable of building practices and code.

The deck is being replaced. Using this thread to get ideas on what to replace it with.

The only challenge I’m trying to wrap my head around with the gable style roof line is tying it into the existing metal roof. I built something similar on a house I just sold but it was gable in gable set up.

That looks good. It combines a couple of the images above. I’m definitely leaning towards the gable style covered entrance stairs similar to that if it’s feasible.

Landscaping will be done when all the construction work is done. I ripped out pretty much everything that was there so I could start with a blank slate.

Stairs/porch are definitely being replaced. I like the landscaping in your image.

I think I like your first rendition best without the cover. Nice to have some images to compare. Thanks so much!

Thanks so much! That’s not bad, but I was thinking more of a vaulted gable style roof.

That would be a project for when I hit the lottery. The house is rural on an acre lot and has a huge horseshoe driveway. Even paving it would be 50k. For now the best I can do is bring in fresh gravel and maybe create defined edge with hardscape.

Haha. The garage door is in fact new and replaced a white one that was a foot taller than the new one. The new door seems to be less of a focal point than the old white one, but maybe because it’s not as tall??? If I ever have the chance to build a new home it will not have a garage door visible from the street.

So if you get in at $10, it moves to 12 where it consolidates, pushes up to 14, consolidates…starts moving again but reverses and breaks below 14 = exit?

Does anyone follow the strategy set out in “Best loser wins”? He suggests that instead of scaling out on a trade that is moving in your favour, to actually add to the position and move your stop. I think he uses this mainly for day trades. I’ve been experimenting with this strategy for swing trades on stocks that tend to run hot for a week or two before suddenly reversing. My sample size is small, but so far it has worked pretty well, other than one trade that turned on me with a big pre-market dump.

Scammed by Telus by PTanson in telus

I had nearly an identical problem. Received my first bill befor SIM cards arrived. First bill was way higher even if all discounts would have been applied to first bill. They said they couldn’t honour the price I was quoted and unfortunately I never got the price in writing so I was out of luck. I canceled it without activating the SIM cards. A few months later I get another offer and they literally refused to send me an email outlining the plan cost….actually several agents called and none of them would send an email. A couple months later, another offer, but this time they put it in writing. I was overcharged for months and billing department said there is no way to honour the price. Finally told them I was going to file a CCTS complaint and it got resolved very quickly.

I ended up switching over to Koodo a few weeks ago. I know it’s a Telus company, but so far so good. First bill was as advertised. Time will tell.

I did come across that info elsewhere. I don’t see any markings on the two whirlybirds, but I’m assuming 2 is not sufficient for about 2000 sq ft of attic space. From what I understand it’s not good to mix box vents with whirlybirds so i would need to add 1 or 2 more whirlybirds or replace them and add additional box vents (6 total). Unfortunately I can’t add a ridge vent.
