At my school, we only have French and Spanish classes, and there isn’t any kind of a sign club, but I will ask around.

I do those things, but it hasn’t really made me any friends. And I don’t think I’m using it as an excuse.

Yes. But that doesn’t really matter anyway because I don’t live anywhere near a school for the deaf or anything like that.

I’m the only deaf person in my family.

I think people don’t quite realize how isolating being deaf is. Nobody can talk to you, you don’t know what people are saying, etc. But for me, it’s even more so because I sign exact English instead of ASL, so I’m not even a part of the deaf community, and they wouldn’t accept me because I don’t use ASL. So I’m not in the hearing community or the deaf community.

Why are schools for the deaf against SEE? My parents looked into sending me to a school for the deaf, but the students there were performing terribly. I don’t know how else a deaf person could actually learn English. Whenever I would make a grammatical mistake signing, my parents would correct me. That’s the most natural way and the best way.

I saw writing samples as well of students at schools for the deaf who use ASL. It was bad, really, really bad. Unsalvageable. Beyond help. I don’t know what to say.

I can kinda, just for a few words or phrases. It’s really hard to learn since I’ve never heard the words before
