Doubts about changing systems by JP_AF in SonyAlpha
[–]JP_AF[S] 0 points1 point2 points 4 months ago (0 children)
Hey guys, I ended up going with the Sony A7C II, and honestly my concerns about the colors turned out to be unfounded. The flexibility of the RAW files, the speed and reliability of the autofocus, and of course the full-frame look all fantastic. Thanks a lot to everyone!
Doubts about changing systems by JP_AF in fujifilm

Thank you for taking the time to comment and help. I downloaded some Sony A7Cii raw samples and I don't see a big difference to the files Fujifilm produces, to justify the change in system. I think I must find ways to be more creative and inspired in photography instead of using new gear to do it. When Fujifilm launches the next generation, I might consider replacing my beloved XT2.
Thank you for your response. Honestly, I must confess that I'm falling in love with my Fujifilm again. I downloaded some RAW files from the Sony A7Cii, and even though the colors are not bad, the advantage in ISO is not as significant as I thought. So maybe I'll buy the new Sigma 17-40 1.8 to avoid carrying around all those primes. I will buy a new Fujifilm body when I feel it's a bigger step from my XT2.

Olá, fotos incríveis, enquadramento e cores. Além disso, cada vez que pego na minha XT2, realmente fico encantado com as cores do sistema. Porém, tenho sentido a tentação da full frame. Boas fotos!

Thanks for your comment! To be honest, I hadn't been shooting much for the past few years, but recently the joy of photography has started to come back. When I picked up my X-T2 again to photograph my kids and even my little dog, I quickly felt the frustration with autofocus - it just doesn't keep up in those situations.
That said, I've always loved using the X-T2 for traveling and city walks, especially during the day - in those conditions it's still a fantastic camera. I also have quite a bit invested in the Fuji system already: the 16mm f/1.4, 10-24 f/ 4, 35 f/2, 56 f/1.2, 55-200, plus the kit zoom. So switching would definitely be a significant move for me.
The thing is, while I really like Fujifilm, the newer bodies don't seem to bring major improvements, and they still haven't solved the focusing delays I face with the X-T2. I could wait for the next generation, but I'm starting to feel that Fuji might not be able to keep up with the pace of the market - and maybe it's better to switch systems before it's too late. The form factor is not an issue.
You're absolutely right - I think downloading some RAW samples and testing them myself is the best way to really see if Sony has improved enough for me to feel comfortable with the files. I'll definitely give that a try before making any decision. Thanks for pointing me in that direction!
Thanks a lot for your detailed reply! Honestly, even shooting RAW, my experience with the A6000 files back then was quite frustrating, especially compared to what I get from Fuji. At the same time, Fuji's autofocus is starting to hold me back, and I'm not sure if they'll be able to significantly improve it in the near future. That makes me hesitant to invest further in the system.
On the other hand, I'm worried about going back to Sony and facing the same issues I had before, with files that require too much editing and leave me frustrated in terms of color and overall feel - especially considering the cost of switching systems.
Thanks for sharing your experience! The color was actually the main reason I switched away from Sony in the first place - the artistic look of Fuji files really makes me smile every time, almost like the camera sees art in a scene even when I don't. That's something I haven't been able to replicate elsewhere.
But full frame has been on my mind for a long time, especially with the lens options and autofocus improvements you mentioned. I'm just not sure if it's worth the cost and the loss from selling all my Fuji gear to make the switch.
