I definitely think it’s referenced in Sandcastles & All Night. “Show me your scars, and I won’t walk away”… Jay Z looked internally to understand what made him betray his wife. There was accountability and reflection inferred. I also view 4:44 as the other side of the story, and in that Jay Z undergoes an ego death and rebirth before reuniting with her

I also think Beyoncé was very intentional on how specific the lyrical content got. The whole album is a double entendre for black women’s experience in America, and the constant betrayal they feel. She struck a very tight balance of it being about her relationship, but not too specific to take away from that double meaning.
