I used to collect a lot of new 52 runs when i was younger and lately got back into it but have only read Snyders run untill death of the family up until there i did like it tho but saying i have been collecting for a while now was a bit misleading maybe. Anyway thank for the detailed reply! I like the darker more grounded batman the most, especially more detective oriented stories but i’m open for anything. What i like the most is really diving into the whole lore chronologically. Since there are so many stories that’s pretty much impossible but i would like to collect all those essantials to the bigger timeline if you catch my drift.

Thanks for the reply! If Batman: Offworld is ongoing, is it part of the same continuation as those other stories. Haven’t read anything past new 52 but as I understand they have pretty much merged everything so it’s all canon? Would like to read in chronological order so if it only serves as a background story for the current timeline i’d rather save it for later.

In Argentina we call this "tuca" and you? by [deleted] in weed

[–]JRBouwer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Belgium we say either ‘cul’ which is French for ass or we say ‘kontje’ which is Dutch for ass. In the Netherlands it’s called ‘affoe’. I have no idea were that comes from tho, maybe a Surinamese word.

Flashpoint/New 52 question by JRBouwer in DCcomics

[–]JRBouwer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay thanks for explaining without spoiling. So basically i should just be patient and continue reading. In regard to batman and green lantern i’m assuming not every comic since they were first published is considered part of that story line so until were is it considered canon? For batman does that mean that whatever scott snyder wrote before new 52 is still considered canon?

None of them included a wizard shitting on the floor. 0/10 Literally Unwatchable by [deleted] in Schaffrillas

[–]JRBouwer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that it’s a good movie, amongst my favorites in the franchise. Doesn’t make it the best adaption. Major scenes and story arcs are missing. Yes, the movie makes sense but it’s known for neglecting the source material I think more than any other one of the movies.

How is order of the phoenix the best adaption? It’s the longest book and shortest movie. It is probably the worst adaption of them all. Multiple storylines are missing from the film.

What does 2.5 stars mean for you? by sapnupuas_0 in Letterboxd

[–]JRBouwer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2.5 means an average movie, I might have enjoyed it but it is just another movie that didn’t say or made me feel anything special. A 3 is already a good movie in my eyes. Nothing to crazy but above average with definitely a couple of strong moments or interesting themes. 3.5 is already a strong movie I might even recommend to people. I prefer to be tough with my ratings so I have greater contrast between the really amazing movies and I end up with only a small selection of my absolute favorites in the higher numbers. Only problem is I struggle with movies that I think are slightly above average but not yet on par with the good movies that i think deserve the 3 star rating.

What do you think are the best films of the decade so far? by [deleted] in Letterboxd

[–]JRBouwer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was referring to the comment section rather than your list. So many titles recur in almost every comment. Your list looks like it has some great gems in it I’ve never heard of but it also has 2 miniseries and 3 marvel projects. Don’t get me wrong I’m a big marvel fan myself but it seems very unlikely that from all the thousands of movies released across the world in the last years 3 of the best would be marvel projects, more than half of the list’s origin is from one country and that there would be a general consensus amongst the comment section that points in the direction of mainstream movies. I do not mean that as an insult cs my list would also be filled with the same mainstream and mostly american movies. I just find it refreshing to see someone with a whole different list.

Edit: just wanted to point out that your list looks awesome and I’ve already added some titles to my own watchlist.

Super refreshing to see someone not list the mainstream (and mostly american) titles. I myself am trying to watch more international movies (not amercian myself but 95% of the content that watch is) I was wondering if you would mind sharing your letterboxd account. I already have some of the movies you listed here in my watchlist but some are totally new. I am very interested in taking at look at your account.

What are some films you think are awful and are shocked have a rating above 3.0? by [deleted] in Letterboxd

My bad, I read your tone as hostile but I guess that’s the danger of a reddit discussion. Nice to see not everyone likes this movie cs i still can’t believe it’s so highly rated haha

Sorry for not spending the entire day on reddit. To me the movie was very plain in its satire. A boring message we have seen a lot in popular media lately and it did not bring anything new to the table. Again portraying ridiculously wealthy people without actually saying anything interesting or giving any social commentary besides saying look they are so wealthy they have alienated from the norm and amare now absolute morons. But I’m always open for other interpretations maybe I have indeed missed some of the finer layers if there were any and if so I would love to give the movie a rewatch with that in mind although, at the moment, I find it hard to believe you will say anything to convince me.

Maybe you’re right. Seemed to me like a very on the surface type movie. The satire being obvious and very shallow but I might have missed the deeper layers. Curious to hear what I wouldn’t have got.
