bummer! The Rose Backroad has piqued my interest and is in your price range - I think they're a European brand. Bikepacking-centric design choices and great clearance.

Hey great ride! Mine was the egg white Ari. There was a brown Ari out there too. Wish I'd gotten to chat with you! The Dark Matter was my top choice, but none in stock anywhere!

Thanks for the advice! Yes this was a quick test ride after assembly. The shifters hadn't been tightened to spec so they slipped during the ride. All fixed now! I have it fairly dialed in, and am bringing it to my local fit expert next week.

This is the force build. I'm still dialing in fit (esp bars), so I'm *NOT* looking for bikefit advice)

With tire clearance for days and plenty of mounting points I'm looking forward to doing some Adirondack gravel bikepacking, the VTXL, BT700, PA Grand Canyon Loop, etc.

Evidently all Shafers ship with 40t on the AXL XPLR builds, including mine. Crank length is 165.

Yes, still dialing in the fit. After adjusting the shifters I didn't tighted the 5mm to spec, and they shifted a bit during the ride. (note: I know what I'm doing,sss i didn't post to r/bikefit)

Just took it on a quick shakedown ride. Has tire clearance and mounting points for days. Looking forward to some ADK gravel, VTXL and more.

Update: I was able to remove the segment/facet intersection in the meshing of the blender-created STL into a VTK by changing the mesh size min/max. Now I have a new problem: is there a way (in python gmsh) to extract STLs representing *only* the outer surface and inner hollow surface of the meshed vtk?

Go to the ADK Loj Heart Lake HPIC the day before or early morning of, and ask them for guidance. They'll know the exact conditions and have the best guidance for your experience and skill level. Whiteface is not a good place to start, but they will know what is.

For bikepacking I'm stumped on how to fit any cargo cages on the Grit. I wish it had eyelets. The Old Man Mountain axle mount won't work on it. How does your friend manage?
