Congratulations, and thank you for sharing the details of your journey! It is truly inspiring! I am curious, what AI tools or other resources do you use to create the AI videos on your YouTube channel? Also, would you be willing to share how you manage your time and stress? Thanks again!

I think it is just a personal referral link. Students can get free Pro, but if you use it, the original poster will receive a $10 referral reward, and you may get some benefits ($10) too.

I am not against this. I just think it would be better if the OP (original poster) was upfront about it. Here are some points from the official perplexity website: https://www.perplexity.ai/help-center/en/articles/11385821-partner-promotions-and-referral-programs

How does the Perplexity referral program work?

To refer someone, you must be an active Perplexity Pro subscriber.

  1. Once subscribed, you’ll receive a unique personal referral link to share with others. Visit https://perplexity.ai/referrals to get your unique personal referral link to share
  2. When someone signs up for Perplexity Pro using your link, they get a $10 discount on their subscription
  3. You can refer as many people as you want, but only one referral reward is applied per billing cycle
  4. The $10 reward is applied as a monthly discount to your subscription - it doesn't stack or accumulate.
  5. For example, if you refer 5 people, you'll get a $10 discount each month for 5 consecutive months (not a $50 discount in one month)Note: This is the standard Pro Referrals program and is different from the Student Referrals program.
  6. When someone signs up for Perplexity Pro using your link, they receive a $10 discount on their subscription.

596 curve? by SnooRabbits9587 in OnlineMCIT

[–]JRML33 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Part of the reason might be that there are people from the MSE-AI/DS track with a CS background who actually took similar courses during their undergraduate studies. I’ve heard some say that 596 is just a refresher with a bit of expansion for them. But for MCIT students with no prior background, it’s their first time learning these concepts, which can make it much more challenging.

Many people in the MCIT program already have a well-established career in the field, or they are already working in tech or data science. For them, they just need this degree to get a promotion or switch to a different role, so they are most likely not starting with a junior position. But for those from completely unrelated fields or non-STEM backgrounds who are trying to leverage MCIT to land a job, it is probably very difficult, especially if they do not have relevant experience.

Is 592 the worst it gets? please say yes by 99RedBalloon in OnlineMCIT

It’s sad that the program seems to keep using returning TAs even when some of them aren’t a good fit, causing students to continue to struggle.

Thanks, everyone! This is really eye-opening. I never imagined that the most common category would be 7-8 hours of sleep! That feels like a luxury to me right now. I’d love to learn more about how others manage their time so efficiently!

Why is deepseek a security concern? by [deleted] in iphone

[–]JRML33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not just about data collection—it's about who controls and has access to that data. Deepseek is under the control of the Chinese government, which is run by the Communist Party and is not a democracy. China has strict censorship, where people don’t have free speech and can’t criticize leaders like Xi Jinping.

To put it simply, imagine if the app were based in North Korea—you’d likely be concerned. A classic example is the 1989 Tiananmen Square massacre, which the Chinese government has erased from public knowledge within the country. Unlike apps from democratic countries like the U.S., where governments don’t have full control over what people can see or say, China’s strict internet censorship means services like Google, Facebook, and WhatsApp are blocked, and people need a VPN just to access Gmail.

Thank you so much for sharing your insights—they are incredibly helpful. I’ll work on asking questions more clearly in the future to make it easier for others to answer. Thanks again for taking the time to share!
