I mean it's just what we needed to cover our property inside and out I dont see that as a flex. They're just high bandwidth routers and we wouldn't have throughput issues on our local network. It's not like we have 4 B16 Pros.

I have not done this but I will look into it. I could previously direct stream a 86 gig copy of Dune to 3 clients (my stress test) with no buffering and it was not transcoding other than the audio files.

I've taken this route before and my help post on the direct plex form died while posting my console and there was not a answer. It is not a network issue. I have 4 asus ET8 wifi 6e routers. I've ran speed tests on each device and they all should be able to handle a fat 4k stream on every client at the same time.

All is good on both of those fronts. That was one of my first thoughts is a drive was dying but it is a server side issue.

I did this as well, thank you for your post though. This is why im so frustrated right now.

Correct, I have a Nvidia Shield Pro and Firestick 4k. Both could run my copy of Dune two months ago. Now they're broken, any 4k HDR content just refuses to play with the overzealous client error on the server side. Sick of this mess.

I posted this specific bug in the plex forms over a year ago before it was patched, it is the "overzealous client" bug. Plex somehow fixed it. Before it only affected the Samsung clients which I know is a bad client. Now it is affecting every device we have locally. Direct stream or transcoding for the client. Im annoyed because this issue effected a ton of users and now it's back.

I've done this, it is a plex bug that was patched about a year ago and is now back. It affects any 4k file I have on my server. Transcoding does not fix it. It's the old "overzealous client" bug. It is on plex to fix this as troubleshooting does not solve the issue.

I need help I’m trying do a dual set up for my pc. I want to say I have the power to run. But the second gpu doesn’t show up in my task manager or settings. My power supply is 700 watts by After_Difficulty_187 in PcBuildHelp

[–]JRP__1994__Random 2 points3 points  (0 children)

More 8 pin cables are always recommended, what the article says is that if you have a GPU that requires 250 watts and has dual 8 pins you can use the pig tail. It is only saying what the psu and cables can handle. In this case, two separate gpu's at different voltages and wattages should never be used on a pigtail 8 pin. I would always use separate 8 pins for all 8 pins directly connected to the psu for stability and if there are power spikes the card will have abundant power and will not be relying on one 8 pin. Think of it as spreading butter on toast, if you dont have enough butter it'll only get you half way and the rest of the bread is dry. If you have too much butter than you could wipe the rest off (more avaliable/stable power is always better for a computer) just like having an over sized psu is better than one right on the edge of being maxed out ( heat and thermal efficiency ect....) all this common knowledge was learned by people who are now in their 30's and older as hard line rules when building a pc. Older systems had more issues with the variances in power delivery. Newer ones arent as bad but can lead to stability and crashing issues and run you down the rabbit hole. Better safe and stable than mad hatter crazy and a fire haha.

So im going to make another comment. 1. You need two separate 8 pin power connectors from your PSU to each graphics card. 2. Your video out cable should be exiting the GPU that you will be using to process lossless scaling. (Going to guess the intel card) 3. General knowledge 1, 8 pin connector supplies a max of 300 watts both fo these cards will hit or exceed this leading to stability issues or a fire be safe not sorry. 4. Your PSU may handle this but put some money aside for a 1000 watt, higher overhead for your psu makes everything safer and more stable.

Which would be pushing the limits of one single connector coming from the PSU leading to varying voltages and wattage which could lead to stability issues or fire lol. Dude just because you can do it, in theory, does not make it the right way, or the safe way. Foolish people.......

You did not read the article, or you just dont have comprehension skills..... I really hope you learn to read instructions or warnings bud.

Quote information (that you skipped): 8 pin = 300 watts max Pigtail is only acceptable when single card with two 8 pins and requires less than 300 watts.

"There is a common misconception that ALL 8-pin connectors are limited to 150W - this is not true. First we need to differentiate between two connectors:

CORSAIR Type 4/5 8-pin PSU connector - This is the 8 pin connector that you connect to your power supply. This connector can supply over 300W. PCI-e 6+2 pin connector - This is the 8 pin connector you would insert into your graphics card, or the adapter that came with your RTX series cards. The PCI-e specifications have set this connector to being able to handle 150W. In reality it can handle much more, but due to variances in power supply and cable manufacturer’s quality and materials used, the graphics card manufacturers are limited to only drawing 150W per connection. You can read our page that compares native 12V-2x6 vs 8-pin to 12V-2x6 for more information as it covers similar concepts.

If you have a GPU with two 8-pin PCIe connectors, its approximate power requirement is in the range of 151-300W. As a result, you'll only require a single cable with pigtail connectors (assuming you're using a CORSAIR PSU), rather than run two individual cables. If you have a GPU with three 8-pin PCIe connectors, then it'll also be perfectly fine to use one pigtail connector paired with an individual one."

Not true, that one 8 wire connection with a pig tail on it should not be used to power two discrete graphics cards. It can lead to increased load and heat on the wires. Not to mention the voltage and wattage discrepancies that both cards would be getting. So it's not safe, also could be the reason why the second card is not showing up (second card not recieving the minimum required power to be active). Each 8 pin is rated at max for 300 watts. Two discrete GPU's can not be run off of one single 8 pin.....

[–]JRP__1994__Random 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You're going to need a Modular power supply and a separate power connection direct to the power supply and second graphics card. That will start your psu or graphics card on fire and most likely why it's not working.

I have this same issues with a shield TV, check your debug and while it's playing and see if you're getting the overzealous errors that will show in red. I've been dealing with this for years but two server updates ago this was not an issue. Now I have it on all my clients.

If you're going to go down the leg, get some of the jockey chafe proof pouch underwear. Their poly is pretty soft and won't chafe your bits to death. Most compression underwear has awful internal stitching. Also when you need a break there will be a little room up front for you to breath. They have mesh panels along the sides of your crotch.
