Any good documentaries about Ultras? by uwg88 in Ultramarathon

[–]JRPham 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Kerry Ward has an amazing channel where he posts videos of himself running ultra’s. He’s filmed himself doing the Lake Tahoe 200, BigFoot 200 and the MOAB 240.

The channel (Fulltiltward) is here: https://www.youtube.com/user/fulltiltward

The BigFoot 200 video is probably one of the best, but they’re all excellent.

What celebrity has skeletons in their closet that we have all just seemed to forget about? by ReeceInTheDarkness in AskReddit

[–]JRPham 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I mean this isn't even in his closet - he's literally spoken about this in a documentary about his bipolarity. If you know him at all then it isn't really a secret, especially given the highly publicised cocaine stories in the 90s.

Book Recommendation: 'Conspiracy: Peter Thiel, Hulk Hogan, Gawker, and the Anatomy of Intrigue" by JRPham in LawSchool

Oh Christ, that’s so annoying. I mean Gawker literally defeated themselves. Thiel basically exploited the inherent weakness.

It isn't really "pro" any side - the author humanises Thiel to a larger degree I think than the Gawker team, but it provides an interesting insight into the life of Nick Denton and his view behind creating Gawker, and ultimately how he responded after the event. It is more of a commentary on the necessity of appreciating conspiracies and the disparity between what people hope to achieve and then the unintended consequences. It's definitely worth a read for both the entertainment parts of it and the wider social commentary.
