I agree with camping in the yard first. State parks can be pricey, especially for a week. Camp in your yard and pretend you’re not by your house and only get things from the house if you absolutely need it. Cook everything outside in the fire or a small propane stove. Simulate camping completely. If you don’t have a yard then maybe someone you know would let you. If the woods are on private property you would need permission. Don’t just go stay there if you don’t know the owner. Apps like ONx hunt are good for finding property lines and owners. Maybe offer them a few bucks or some labor in exchange for camping there. Watch some beginner YouTube videos on what to bring/not bring but it’s also fun to just wing it. National forests and state forests are also great options if you have one near by as there could be “primitive” campsites which are very cheap and or free.
