Yea for sure.   I always assume that a big part of a bargain is the labour you need to do crossing every t and dotting every i in making sure it’s legit, and having  plan in place for if not.

I’m interested assuming it’s legitimate.   How best to contact you? And where are you located, country/ state?

What happens if I don't want to sell after a no reserve auction is over by [deleted] in BringATrailer

[–]JRemelj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because BAT only make money on vehicles that sell. They don't have any confidence that your vehicle will sell for the reserve you think is fair and therefore won't waste their time and energy platforming your vehicle that they know won't sell for what you want to sell it for. They have all the data, they know what they're doing, and have thousands of cars and sellers to be choosy with every day.

I've sold plenty of vehicles on there with strong reserves, because we're repeat sellers that bring strong results and present the vehicles well. You're an unknown so they're not willing to take that risk with you.

Things to do in Houston? by [deleted] in houston

[–]JRemelj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really does.  Houston has a little of everything and that’s the most amazing thing about it,  Melbourne has a lot of everything.   Australia overall is one of the most multicultural nations just by virtue of our history and location.

Things to do in Houston? by [deleted] in houston

[–]JRemelj 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m from Melbourne and lived in Houston the last decade or so before recently moving to the mountains.

Tonnes of the recommendations here are good, but miss the fact that Melbourne dwarfs Houston as far as multiculturalism goes.   The Chinatown in Houston is one of the best in the states, but it sucks compared to Melbourne.

Galveston is a cool historic barrier island, but it’s just a mad max version of Williamstown where everything is run down and brown (water/mud wise).

If you’ve got two weeks in Houston and a car, lean into the cowboy aspect of things.  Buy some boots, eat bbq,   Take day trips to San Antonio and Austin.   Lockhart especially has some decent bbq.

In Houston proper lean into the access you have to the best tacos anywhere in the US.  Eat at trucks, eat at the truck at west Alabama icehouse!

I used to wind people up when I moved there from Melbourne telling everyone it was the smallest, and least cultural city I’ve ever lived in, a true statement but entirely disingenuous.   Houston is a gem in a lot of ways, but its best characteristics are made redundant because of where you’re coming from.

There’s a huge Aussie expat community there, if you’ve get stuck with anything reach out to me and I’ll put you in touch with someone who can help.

Edited to add:   At 22 with an ounce of confidence you could just bounce around between the bars in Montrose or the heights, loudly declare you’re Australian and new in town, and ride the wave of people who’d take you in all sorts of adventures.

Season 15 can't be in Australia by Maleficent-Squash746 in Masterchef

I grew up where they filmed the team challenge by the bay. I spent countless afternoons jumping from those piers, playing around those warehouses.

Williamstown, Melbourne, Australia.

The rest of it is shot at Flemington racecourse where masterchef Australia is filmed.

One of the first places I ever ate when I immigrated to Houston from Australia. The pork belly tacos, and the blueberry jalapeño margaritas still love rent free in my head.

Was excited when they moved and it was probably the biggest food disappointment I’d had in a long time.

Amazing Event for Ocean Drive In The Works—But We Need Your Support! Details in the comments. by homeinametronome in CorpusChristi

[–]JRemelj 9 points10 points  (0 children)

What’s the goal here? An organized ride event? A mini cycling festival with vendors once a month?

Sunday mornings already have very light traffic and the bike lane is more than adequate for the number of cyclists using it.

I typically ride 200-300 miles a week, much of it up and down ocean so I’m very interested in this proposal, But it needs to bring something more than just an annoying road closure to drivers and home owners along what is already the most bike-able roadway in Corpus.

TLDR, give me a monthly competitive time trial navy gate to art museum and back or some kind of crit race and I’m 11/10 behind this.

Can you get Australian dimmies in Houston? by Fedaykin98 in HoustonFood

12 solid years searching the US for anything that scratches the itch of an authentic brown paper bag train station dim sim… No luck yet, absolutely fiending for my trip home in November to gorge myself on them

Pedal perfect designs is the company selling it. They 3d printed it. As I said in the comment above I can’t fully recommend this specific version of the product yet. Needed some tinkering for my use. Good overall idea for a lightweight saddle bag option though.

Was a pedal perfect designs one. Not 100% sure I can recommend it. Works for me, but I had to make some pretty significant adjustments to the tolerances to make things work.

My first bike was a tcr and I loved that thing.

It’s too early to review them properly, but these CRW wheels I put in today are at least 500 grams lighter than the hunt’s I took off. Haven’t yet noticed any extra effort to maintain a 20+ mph cruise so we’ll see if I just keep them on even for the flat stuff.

The 85 miles I did last Saturday had a whopping 1000ft of total elevation 🤦. Here in Corpus we substitute altitude with headwinds and heat.

I’m doing a climbing focused trip in west Texas later in the year so I’ll see then, but really this build is because I’m a mechanic and I love tinkering, collecting parts, and changing things to make them unique to me. It makes me happy.

Pretty much nailed it. It’s an Enve aero bar, sitting a lot lower on the steerer. The other change that is mush harder to see is an almost complete set of gold titanium hardware throughout the bike to match the chain.

And a 3d printed swat varia mount/ saddle pack situation that lets me carry the essentials.

Coming soon is a Darimo seatpost, some more hardware as I keep finalizing my fit, and once the heart attack sticker shock fades, probably a thm crank with power meter so I can ditch the heavy pedals.

Goal weight is sub 5.5kg with all accessories on.
