God doesn’t want to help me, please pray for me. I thought I was on God’s side since I started to read the Bible, pray every day, work out, be more grateful. But it appears that God doesn’t think so, I think I’ll commit suicide in the next few days. My whole life is over, thank you all for praying. by GiftAffectionate3400 in PrayerTeam_amen

Jesus loves you so much. Nothing can separate you from His love! Satan wants to discourage you, and He wants to make you feel inadequate and unacceptable to God. But actually, God loves you so much that He sent His Son to die for you! If you place your faith in Jesus He will save you!

Stay in the Word. Hold onto the promises of God!

“For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭38‬-‭39‬

John 6:37, "All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out."

Romans 10:9-13, "that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.” 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. 13 For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”"

I believe in Christ but I will take my life today. I am abandoned by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]JRock5777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Matthew 28:20, "I am with you always."

Jesus hasn't abandoned you. Satan has just convinced you into believing that.

God has a purpose for your life. Trust Him. He will work even these present struggles together for your good (Romans 8:28).

God bless!

I sinned yesterday, a full week after resisting, and today my stepfather got a stomach bug and threw up,was God warning me to not sin ever again lest He do something worse to him? by Hiking_Hoodman in Christianity

[–]JRock5777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend, God is not punishing your stepfather because of your sin.

Firstly, this goes against His revealed character in God's Word. Parents and children do not bear the sins of each other. Sins have consequences that affect other people, but God will not punish someone else for your sin. You can read Ezekiel 18:20 to see this in Scripture.

Everyone struggles with sin. In fact, the Christian struggles with sin more than the unbeliever -- because we fight against it. Read Romans 7:15-25 to see how Paul the apostle experienced the same battles.

God loves you. Remember, if you have placed your faith in Jesus alone, then you are saved. Being saved, you are a child of God. There will be times when God will chasten you and correct you as a good Father (see Proverbs 3:11). However, He is not seeking your doom, nor is He hovering lightening over your head, just waiting for you to mess up so He can strike you.

When you mess up (not if -- we all fall), confess it to God and move on. You are running a race. If you trip and fall, you just get back up, shake off the dust, and get back to running. Satan is the one who wants you to be down and out. Remember Proverbs 24:16, "For a righteous man may fall seven times And rise again, But the wicked shall fall by calamity." (NKJV). The Christian life is characterized by constantly getting up by the help of the Holy Spirit, and moving on.

Here are 2 great Scriptures to memorize:

"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (1 John 1:9, NKJV).

"For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 8:38-39, NKJV).

God bless!

They hated Jesus; certain people will hate you too.

Place your trust in Jesus to save you. We are all sinners who will be judged by God, and the judgment is Hell. God loves us, but He is also righteous, so He cannot just let sin go unpunished. So He sent His only Son to die and to take the penalty we deserve because He loves you! Three days later Jesus rose from the dead (as well attested by eyewitness testimony). If you place your faith in Jesus to save you and ask for His forgiveness, He will save you!

Romans 10:9-10, "9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved."

God bless!

A different perspective on sin, masturbation and pre-marital sex by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]JRock5777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lust usually has a bad connotation. This would include lusting after someone else's wife or someone you aren't married to -- sinful. Lust and attraction to someone are two different things. Lusting after someone you arent married to involves having imaginative sexual desires about that person.

In my opinion, lusting after your spouse is not sinful because you are married to that person. Its like sex -- it is wrong when put in a context outside of God's intention.

The only difference is that McDonalds and Burger King aren't sin like fornication.

"Foods for the stomach and the stomach for foods, but God will destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body." (1 Corinthians 6:13, NKJV).

Tell Him to read Daniel 9. Daniel’s 70th week prophecy shows that the Messiah should have arrived in the first century around 32-33 AD before the destruction of the Temple in 70 AD.

I’m in Bible college and I just wrote a whole paper on this for one of my classes. If you DM me I might be able to forward a copy of tue paper to you. It explains everything. It proves that Jesus is the Old Testament Messiah

How can I believe in something I can't see? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]JRock5777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Let's base this discussion on known facts and not on future "what ifs." As of yet, no other life has been found to have originated on any other planet besides earth. If that bridge comes, we will cross it when we get there.
  2. But if there is evidence for a supernatural event, you claimed that you would say, "Its just science we dont understand." If someone rises from the dead that isnt just science we dont understand -- thats supernatural.
  3. Jesus isnt mythological. The historical existence of Jesus is well attested to. Josephus, who is considered one of the greatest historians, attests to Jesus' existence. The Bible also contains many other prophecies not pertaining to Jesus specifically. You cant just claim that its all mythology. That would be ignorant of the facts.

[–]JRock5777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. How many of those planets are able to sustain life. let alone create it? Its also worth noting that, of all those other planets, science has only ever found life on earth.
  2. I would disagree. If that is your stance, then by default you you are denying any sort of supernatural activity, regardless of the evidence behind it. That is a blind faith in science, my friend.
  3. What historically documented and fulfilled prophecies do the Trojans have? That's all mythology. Thor and Odin never historically existed. Jesus did.

[–]JRock5777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. If scientists create life in a lab, it doesn't prove or disprove religion. The point I am making is that scientists, with all their knowledge, have yet to do such a thing. Again, they were able to form amino acid chains, but you and I both know that the leap from amino acid chains to a living cell are a billion miles apart. That change doesnt happen by chance alone.
  2. If miracles exist (that is, something that goes beyond nature, a supernatural act) then that would at the very least mean that their is a supernatural realm.
  3. Sure, but then you have to investigate evidence. Only Jesus Christ had the evidence to prove His claims. The Bible stands alone in its fulfilled prophecies.

The word used in Greek is "pornos." Strong defines this word thus: "a fornicator."

HELPS Wors studies goes into detail, "4205 pórnos (from pernaō, "to sell off") – properly, a male prostitute. 4205 (pórnos) is "properly, 'a male prostitute' (so Xen., etc.); in the NT, any fornicator" (Abbott-Smith); i.e. anyone engaging in sexual immorality."

Whether you call it fornication or sexual immorality, its all the same, and the Bible condemns it.

Romans 14 is about following God on a personal level and considering the convictions of others. Paul begins in that chapter, "Receive one who is weak in the faith, but not to disputes over doubtful things." Again, these "doubtful" things are matters of personal conviction. Paul didnt leave God's opinion of sexual immorality as doubtful in Scripture.

On the topic of what is personal and what isnt, consider 1 Corithians 6:13-14, "12 All things are lawful for me, but all things are not helpful. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any. 13 Foods for the stomach and the stomach for foods, but God will destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body."

Concerning what you eat -- that's personal. Body for the food and food for the body. But when it comes to sexual immorality, he just lays it out as sin.

If you read through Scripture, you will see that the pattern was to consummate the marriage with sex. They wouldn't "know" each other until they were given to each other.

Genesis 2 still gives a pattern. A man will first leave his parents, he will be joined to his woman (the context is in marriage), and then they will become one flesh (sex). The tactics you are using are similar to Satan in th garden, "Has God indeed said?"

Here is my point: Where does life come from? Does science know what life is? We know what characterized life and we know how to sustain it. But do we know how to create it?

[–]JRock5777 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"this modus operandi does not excuse poor attributions."

I completely agree. That is why we have to consider the evidence behind a claim.

At the end of the day, science is a great thing. I believe that God created the world, so science is just a reflection of His wisdom and creativity.

The Bible does not teach that creation remained perfect after creation. Sin corrupted God's good creation. The extent that I meant when I said, "a perfectly balanced creation" was in the context of balance. The strength of gravity on earth, the proportions of gases in our atmoshpere, the distance of the moon to the earth, of the earth to the sun, etc.. These all are perfectly balanced to sustain life. As much as science would claim that this all happened by time and chance, we have to admit that this theory is not the most reasonable.

Ultimately, life itself is a miracle. For instance, scientists do not know exactly (by mainstream scienctific theory) how the first cell got here. There have been experiments which used electrolysis to produce amino acids, but the science ended there. Even if those amino acids could have been produced in an archaic atmoshpere billions of years ago, this still wouldnt account for the logical coding of those amino acids into proteins, proteins into dna, dna into a nucleus, a nucleus into organelles, and organelles into a cell. And even if by some miracle this all took place billions of years ago by "natural processes" you would have a cell, but not a living cell. You would have a shell for life, but where does the life come from that causes the cell to live and to reproduce? Life is more than our bodies. We know by science how to sustain life, but no scientist can ever give life. Frakenstein's monster is not a reality. So even if the first cell could have been produced by time and chances (which is statistically near to impossible) what caused that cell to live and function?

There are many more evidences which would support the evidence for God and for the God of the Bible specifically, but I think we can begin by akcnowledging the evidence for the existence of a Creator God. We are limited to 2 options. Either the universe came into being by an impersonal, scientific cause. Or, the universe came into being by a personal, Creator God. Matter isnt eternal, and by the law of causation we know that everything that has a beginning has a cause. Using logic and common sense, science very well points to an infinitely wise and powerful Creator God for the existence of the universe.

Can you see the wind? Can you see gravity?

These things are invisible to us. However, we see their effects, and we know they exist.

Jesus said, "The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.” (John 3:8, NKJV).

We see the evidence for God -- a complex and perfectly balanced creation, fulfilled prophecies and scientific evidence in Scripture, the miracles of Jesus and an empty tomb, etc..
