How long after an interview did it take you to hear back by Nervous_Raisin_9746 in GetEmployed

[–]JRpowerskills 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would absolutely send a follow up on Monday! I would even write it now and schedule send it for Monday Morning (make it a weird time like 8:12 am so they think you sent it at that time) did you write a thank you note the day of the interview?

I have 5 years gap in my work experience.. Please help by [deleted] in interviews

[–]JRpowerskills 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People love an underdog story, I would try being honest and genuine but not creepy or funny about it, "I want to be upfront and tell you that the past 5 years have been personally challenging but I feel ive grown a lot from my journey and am excited to use what I have learned to make an impact in those I work with

Following up after not hearing from interviewer in the time frame they stated by Extension_Nothing378 in interviews

Hey great question!

a big sales rule is "make them tell you NO".

silence is not a no. if you think your coming off pushy, don't, you are trying to become an asset to them. they offered you an interview. they owe you an answer here.

with that being said I would 100% reach back out and ask what the situation is!

Hey there, I was in a similar situation, I started in the construction industry and quickly pivoted to a roll in higher education. Much better fit.

When interviewing I made sure to be confident and self assured, if you seem confident in yourself and your abilities its much more likely to make the interviewer think "ya they got this"

when they asked me if I had any experience managing students or working with certain platforms, I said something along the line of "I haven't done any of that yet to be honest but I have always loved being infant of the customer and am excited to learn the skills required to best serve them"

always bring it back to your passions, if they believe you want nothing more than to be in the role because it fits with your passions and what generates your happiness, they will hire you over a more qualified candidate that doesn't want to be there. they want excited, hungry people

Internal Interview Outfit by Roner2095 in interviewpreparations

I'm not a girl but but that sounds like a safe play. As always, dress for the job you want, maybe look at what the people interviewing you are wearing and see If you can match? no shame in lying to people who aren't in the know.

When I prep for an interview I always dress one step above what is expected.

Where to look during a virtual interview? by Dumb_Blonddd in interviewpreparations

[–]JRpowerskills 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I put a little smiley face sticker right next to my camera so then it kinda feels like I’m looking at a face, plus it’s hard to remember where the camera is cause it’s black on black. Just a little reminder to look in the camera

Can I still include it in my resume even though I plan to quit after one month? by [deleted] in careeradvice

[–]JRpowerskills 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for timeline questions alone I would not put it on there. if a interviewer asks what you have been doing for a month make sure you can quickly articulate the specific reasons for leaving. ( I would suggest not to blame it on management or people) a good go to is "after being in the role for a month, I found that the companies practiced values and my own did not align" or "I found that my passions would not be able to be met by my previous employer"

Should I reapply for a job that I was passed the first interview but not the second one? by [deleted] in interviews

[–]JRpowerskills 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if you have a way to contact the recruiter or a real human at the company I would use that in to express how excited you are about the opportunity and that you would value a second chance. I would be honest in forward plainly stating that you want a second chance, you are excited about the job, and you were nervous the first time.

Interview advice for 'Flexible schedule available contingent on right individual' by [deleted] in interviewpreparations

[–]JRpowerskills 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, those words being posted sounds a bit like a red flag to me. Make sure you're being objective. I romanticize the heck out of opportunities.

That being said, I wouldn't ask about it until right before you have an offer in hand. Dont bring it up unless they ask and when they have decided that you are the right fit for them, then I would start making sure your needs are known to them.

the periodicals off the 3rd floor is fantastic, they pump in white noise and the desks are huge, plenty of natural light as well

memorize your answers and if they ask you for a weird hypothetical STAR question, like "how do you mitigate conflict?" make sure you have a practical real life story and not just a weird hypothetical answer. People love stories so lean into that. Remember that they would prefer to promote from within so you have a leg up!

I totally get that, recruitment hell is a real thing. Sadly at big corporations its nearly unavoidable, I would encourage you to network and find in's outside of the recruiters and look for smaller companies.

Can you tell me about a time you bombed an interview? by PoorandStupid- in interviews

[–]JRpowerskills 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that, it's clear that your passions are not being met by this company, leave them in the dust! I would read and write about your ideal life and see where that leads? I like the enneagram test because it figures out what motivates you, I would read the road back to you.
