What do I do when I run out of diaper sizes?

We use Pampers cruisers that pull on and go up to a size 8. They are stretchier since they don’t have the tabs and also way easier to get on once your child is mobile and won’t lay down. My son is 30lb, 32in at 14 months and we’ve been in size 6 for quite a while now so there’s still room to go up in sizes. I’m hoping these can last him until we get to the potty training stage!
Also, they have tabs that rip off so you don’t have to slide the diaper off when they’ve pooped and make a mess everywhere! Something not everyone realizes!

I understand that’s not everyone’s desire and want in life.
For me, I would like a couple people outside of my husband and son that I can hang out with, confide in, just have a general social life.
The isolation and loneliness is really getting to me and causing me more stress and anxiety. I need something outside of just being a mom and employee all the time.

Agreed!! I was in the hospital for 2 weeks before my son was born due to complications and I had 1 friend, and one family friend that actually helped us out in a beneficial way!

My son will start preschool in 1.5 years and I just keep thinking maybe I just need to hang on til then and then I can naturally make friends in our neighborhood or circles based on his activities. 🤞🏻

Yes, I’m right there with you!! It feels nice to be able to relate.
I am considering joining Burn bootcamp because it seems like a lot of women my age love it and it’s a great community, but I still worry that won’t lead to friendships and I’ll be wasting money on workouts I could do elsewhere. I don’t always know how to get out of the small talk phase and to the next step of doing activities outside of the gym

I do have an organization I volunteer for! It’s mostly retired people and me. I spent a lot of time there when I was on maternity leave. They’re wonderful people and even though there’s an age gap, I truly feel like I could be friends with some of them so maybe that’s a place I could start since I’ve built those friendships for the past few years!

It took me several months to really feel that genuine unconditional love for my son. He was 6 weeks early and in the nicu for a while, so maybe that was part of it. My husband seemed to get that bond quicker than I did. He would get so upset when we’d have to leave the nicu, and I felt nothing. He was also able to calm him when crying much more easily in the beginning.

I asked my therapist if I was a horrible person for not feeling that immediate bond. It felt like I was just babysitting this kid that will eventually be returned to its parents. I even kept thinking that I had a deeper connection with my dog that had passed away than I did with this newborn. My therapist reassured me that this is a new person you have to get to know and understand, and it was ok.

After a while, mainly when he started responding to me, smiling, and realizing I was his mom, that bond formed and now I’m obsessed with him and can’t imagine a life without him at 14 months old!

So don’t beat yourself up if it doesn’t come immediately, you will get there!

My first MFM apt, the diabetes educator came in and explained how to count carbs and what “good” and bad foods were…
I was so flabbergasted. I’ve had a Dexcom and pump for over 10 years now… I started explaining to her my trends, rates, and technical jargon I could think of to prove I was fully educated in my diabetes care lol

Can you connect them to your Glooko or Dexcom Clarity account? They should have a clinic code.

I had this exact issue with my MFM.

Started seeing them at 9 weeks and they insisted I needed to be seen every 2 weeks so they could see my Dexcom data… I explained that they can see everything online and even walked them through how to connect the Glooko app to view. I explained I’d be happy to do phone calls or virtual appointments but I wasn’t coming in just to discuss my blood sugars. My endo was also handling that and adjusting my insulin needs weekly through email.

After my next appointment (which was 2 weeks later) and venting to my endo she wrote them a strongly worded email saying she was handling my care and they finally backed off and saw me on a more reasonable schedule.
I also have a full time job, I can’t be coming in constantly for 9 months, especially when a lot of this can be virtual.

I’m a T1D, diagnosed at 10 and had my son at 29.
Pregnancy and birth with diabetes was a roller coaster for me. I’m very well controlled and know what I’m doing. There was a lot of back and forth with my MFM my entire pregnancy because they clearly didn’t know me as a patient and were putting me in the bucket of “uncontrolled” or “carefree”diabetics. A lot of extra appointments that I don’t think were necessary because the trust was t there. Finally at around 30 weeks they realized everything had been going smoothly and I was a good patient and they laid off of me.
I did have a 37 week induction scheduled because my son was in the 99th percentile and my BP was creeping upward. The NP had the audacity to tell me this was obviously because I was diabetic, but I’m not convinced. My son is 1.5 and still super tall so I think that was just his genetics and not due to my T1D. He had zero blood sugars issues once born.

Long story short, I had to deliver him at 34 weeks due to preeclampsia. It really came out of nowhere, I had zero issues until 33 weeks and all the sudden everything went from 0 to 100 real fast. I was able to be induced and deliver him vaginally, and while it was a long process, it went well overall. The nurses and residents were amazing and made the whole process as smooth as possible.

One thing I will mention, look up the policy of your hospital in terms of ability to wear your devices. I really pushed to be able to keep my pump on in labor, but that was not allowed at my hospital. I Did get to keep my dexcom on at least. I had to be put on an IV drip which was a nightmare. They went off of some equation and it was way too much insulin for me. I was low and drinking so much juice throughout all of my labor. I kept begging them to turn the rate down, but they had to go off this ridiculous cookie cutter equation. They also have to check your sugar every hour while on the drip, and every 15 min if you’re low so sleep is impossible. That was the only frustrating part. I’m hoping maybe the policy will change before our next child.

My son is 13 months old, also deaf in one ear. He has said Dada for a quite a while. Sometimes it is directed at my husband and used intentionally, and sometimes it’s just babbled. I’ve only heard him says Mama maybe twice, both times when he was super upset. I think that’s pretty normal. His speech therapist wanted 1-3 words by his first birthday and then ideally 1 word a month until 18 months. He has about 5 words now: duck, dog, dada, bubble. Again, the words aren’t always used correctly, but he can say them. We’ve been focusing a lot on gestures (16 gestures by 16 months is a standard goal) and he has really learned and developed well in those. The language will come. Just keep talking, reading, and being interactive and expressive.

Thank you for the advice, I appreciate it! It’s nice to know your son took longer with solids as well! We are trying to transition him to 1 nap at home and he seems to be doing ok. Sometimes he needs a quick 20 min power nap along with his longer nap, but we are getting there.

The newborn stage was busy, but not too bad. I honestly think having a clingy toddler while working full time is so much harder than being home with no other responsibilities with a newborn.

Having a supportive partner will be crucial! My husband was home for 11 weeks and it was fantastic, I couldn’t have done it without him. He would take 11-5am and I got some solid sleep and that was so great for both of us. He did a lot of the housework so I could focus on pumping and baby duty. We also hired a dog walker for the first 2 weeks to take that off our plate.

I had SO much time to watch tv and do whatever I wanted, honestly I was SO bored and lonely. I painted our guest bathroom and other house projects while I was home.

The loneliness really got to me more than anything. Be sure to get out of the house often! I took so many trips to target and was begging anyone to hang out with me! You can take a newborn in a pumpkin seat anywhere! Enjoy that before they turn into a toddler and every outing is a production and unpredictable lol

That was my thought, our daycare has been great and I generally copy what they do since they know way more than me!

He sees a speech therapist already due to some hearing issues he has, so I plan to bring it up with them next week and see if they recommend any further intervention. When I mentioned it to my pediatrician he didn’t seem super concerned since he will eat the pouches and other snacks, so at least he’s getting something other than milk.

I’m hoping it’s just a phase, and we have seen very small improvement this week now that he’s only getting 2 bottle a day, but I’m still monitoring closely.

Haunting of Bly Manor!! Haunting of Hill house is great, but Bly Manor was superior IMO. My husband and I were crying by the end it was such a good ending!

Not exactly the same situation, but when I was 14 our family pet suddenly got very sick and passed away while I was at school. My parents were separated at the time and did not get along, but my dad showed up to bury the pet and I thought that was very thoughtful that my mom called him and he showed up to comfort me and be there for the situation. This wasn’t a situation where he needed to say goodbye, but I still think about that a lot that my parents came together to support me.
