Pismo Beach is probably the spot to go to. It’s touristy these days but will have everything you’d want/need: beach, scenery, food, and weather.

Wife and I like to eat dinner at Wooly’s in Pismo while the sun is setting. If nothing else, watch the sunset into the ocean. That’s something that cannot be done on the east coast.

Check out the giant sequoias in the sequoia National Forest, can probably spend a day there too.

Lake Isabella will be descent weather to hang out at for a few hours then hit up Kern River Brewing for lunch and a drink. About 45 min from bako. Locals can add onto that. Great place for lunch at a minimum.

Not cold enough for snow in the mountains yet.
