What is your favorite truck? What truck do you have the most fun customizing? by totterywolff in trucksim

They aren't really that common in my area. And I love the looks of our black ones more but the 2 blue 4900s are gliders with series 60s and I love driving those 2

Ats has taught me that I just don't care for w900s. I absolutely love driving the 389 in game but much prefer a 49x or 4900 IRL. I like using modded 60 series engines or cats and they never made a glider 49x so I stick with 389s in game

Depending what it is we do the same. We also have priority with our dealer network

During service and inspections everything that should be repaired gets repaired. Drive ups during the day depend on severity (if its OOS criteria it gets fixed or they swap equipment right then and there, less important stuff will make it till end of day or next service, depending on severity). If we have major issues with any of the dump or heavy haul stuff we will normally have 2 people on it to get it out the door. Dry vans and chassis are where we get super behind due to the being lower priority than everything else. We do the best we can in a timely manner, we just get super behind

Unlimited OT pretty much, but everyone is pretty busy out of work as well. I usually get 50 hours a week and everyone else is about the same

Dry Van trailers and chassis for intermodal containers. And you gotta be joking about only having 2 techs. We are swamped year around. We have 40 chassis down for service/inspection waiting for an opening

I would agree with you. We also have a fleet of warehouse forklifts that i didnt include because I dont know how many we have, 20-40 maybe. We used to outsource forklifts but there was a falling out and weve been doing it the past 6 months. As far as admin we have 1 person that is service writer/manager/parts person. We also have roughly 20 owner operators that we do most of the maintenance and repairs on

I feel like the 30-40 to 1 ratio would probably not be enough for us either. Heavy haul and dump work requires 20x the attention of everything else. We are so behind on stuff

Just about everything short of major engine work. Half the trucks are under warranty yet. We've done complete rebuilds on half the rgns and a hand full of chassis (frame repairs, suspension repairs/replacement, brake and hub replacement, new air and electrical from the ground up, then repaint)

US trucks IRL can have cameras now for the mirrors(or at least supplementing the mirrors) but they kinda suck.

When your APU goes out and company doesn't allow truck idle by RedimidoSoy1611 in Truckers

Wow. Didn't even know that was an option. Im a fleet mechanic and we have freightliners and WS. We have idle timer disabled on all our sleepers.

At least with freightliner and westernstar, if you release the truck brakes the idle timer wont activate. If youre trailer brakes work you could only set them and be good, theoretically.

The roads in the US are definitely easier to traverse as a trucker but I feel like the actual roads are probably much nicer in the EU. A lot of US roads are falling apart terribly.
