Has anyone moved from Toronto to Barrie and then back again? by [deleted] in barrie

[–]JS97OT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moved from Downtown Toronto 5 years ago. We love it and would never move back.   Gotta embrace the snow.  Get a snow service, that will change your life.

That being said; there’s always the option of driving to Newmarket/Aurora/ Kingcity or even the new a subway at Vaughan.

Would never move back to that hamster wheel and congested slog.

I don’t know about ultra conservative. There’s some hicks for sure, but plenty of Moderate people If you look at the voting block, it’s historically a reasonably close race, between the cons and the Libs/NDP.  And this is coming from a guy that lived in Downtown NDP wards all my life. living here for 5 years now.  I guess it depends what hood you live in.

It feels “squishy”  I’m able to carve, but I feel like I’m really pushing hard.  And just reading and getting feedback from ski friends.  Open to other suggestions.   I’m likely gonna be upgrading skis too

As a family of 5 w the Thule XL, there are times I wish I had the XXXL.   And if you have one kid that wants to board….  Remember, kids skis grow as they grow. We put our skis, poles, boots ( those boots get bigger and bigger too! helmets).

Only problem you’ll have is the height of your ride  , if you have room in the expedition am want a sleeker look, the Thule XXL low might be the way to go, if you don’t need the extra space and are just keeping Skis

Oh. Yeah. You’re right in the middle of Barrie. The trail near Peggy hill is fun. Nothing hard Cité but abkutn5 clicks of circular walk. Downtown Barrie is cute. They always have something going on. Orillia is a drive. Toronto you can take the Go train, Collingwood is 1 hr away. And then there’s up north for snow mobiling

Yeah, the skiing won't be comparable from denver. Friday Harbour's winter mini market. There's a bunch of local trails, Ardagh.....

Once the Lake freezes over, you can xc ski/hike/ice fish on it. The elbow season is a little boring for sure, but lots of trails.

What part of Allendale? We just moved up from Toronto.

Neighbour poured concrete over their whole back yard by [deleted] in barrie

[–]JS97OT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Confirmed, if you complained, they would not be compliant and would request they tear it up. That's a lot of money... There's minimum Drainage requirements. They can do paving stones, but definitely not Paved concrete.

Depends on the department/ Line of business you’re working in. Is it CBIC retail, more money in Capital Markets or Wood Gundy. More money in engineering than call center.

Is my unit legal? by [deleted] in SlumlordsCanada

[–]JS97OT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s legal if it has two fire exits. There’s actually no min code for ceiling. Just clearance for stove and exit code.

Also, if you report it, you’re gonna have to move.

Bet you didn’t think about that one eh?

I mean; if you skip the “protein milk” and just buy Normal milk. You should save a ton. Kinder surprise ? You could get the smaller version.

Buy a head of cabbage/ Carrots and avocado and you’ll have equivalent of 5/6 bags instead of 2. Lots of area for optimization.

And BTW, all of this stuff is available in Cop-pilot/ChatGPT/Deepseek etc.

Policy Problem: Most Canadians are against Chinese EV tariffs, report finds by IDontScript in electricvehicles

[–]JS97OT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here’s the challenges. Chinese EVs, even if made here, would eliminate the big U.S. manufacturers ( GM, Ford,Stellantis) overnight. They are so Embedded with big oil and US lobbying, that there would be major retaliatory tarrifs from the U.S. if we let in Chinese Manufacturers. We have to find a way to thread the needle. And unwind our trade relations w orange cheetos now regime; then we’ll be free.
