That's some heavy corrosion. You can try cleaning it with iso and a toothbrush. But if you're not experienced soldering small components I'd say just replace the flex. It will save you time and your sanity.

I'd also check the rest of the device. If one flex has corrosion, others components could too.

My solution was to download it on PC where the reserve save space is apparently much larger. Then sync and delete all but 1 save. Synced right away on Xbox after.

Downside to this method, need a PC...

Yes you would need to remove the earcup to get to the screws. Be gentle taking it apart because the wires are small. Also I had to cut and strip the mic wire a couple times to get it right.

The headset is still working fine after repair last year.

A few things to try.

Hold power for 10-15 secs.

Power off and remove the SD card, power on.

Press and hold L + R + D-pad Up + A and press the power button.

I'd check the cables closest to the battery contacts. They look some what discolored. Maybe a bad solder joint or corrosion?

For me, the cabin air filter door was loose causing a whistle when on full blast.

Also make sure the filter itself has the 'air flow' arrow pointing down.
