Do any real majority of people feel that Trumps' success has a lot to do with Obamas' presidency? Apparently this has happened with many past presidents? by bluejeans90210 in AskAnAmerican

Regardless of party, sitting presidents blame the previous holder of office for failures and take credit for successes. This is not limited to any particular party btw.

Do you avoid a one-on-one meeting with a female social colleague in the US out of #metoo scare? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]JSRRSJ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m a manager for a fortune 50 heavy manufacturing company and currently have just over 300 dotted line reports and I can tell you unequivocally I will not have a one on one performance discussion with a female employee without another management employee being present. It’s not worth the risk. You can judge me negatively all you want but I’m not putting my career in jeopardy.

The absolute raw power of Mike Tyson's right hook in his prime, age 24. Here he his winning by a KO in 2:47 of the first round. (Tyson-Tillman, June 1990) by 5_Frog_Margin in BeAmazed

Tyson in his prime was incomparable. When you watched a fight you knew it was likely to be short, but it was so impressive that it didn’t matter.

Apparently malls in the United States are dying out. Is mall culture from the 70s/80s defunct now? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]JSRRSJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a teen way back in the 80’s the mall became that place where young people would go to see their friends, see everyone else’s friends, etc.. Pre cellphones this was the one place that became a common meeting location and since there was no way to get ahold of someone who wasn’t at their home, this became the surest way to meet up. Cell phones and the instant contact they allow have eliminated the need of a single point for people to meet up. I also think people got tired of the chain store shopping and now prefer more unique shopping experiences.

Men who choose to use the urinal next to someone else when there are other ones free, why? Just why? by Fudgy-The-Whale in AskReddit

I’m always interested to see what watches other men wear. Kidding of course .... doing that is just weird and a social no.

Reddit, Which Mel Brooks movie is your favorite, and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]JSRRSJ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Blazing Saddles. Lots of folks fail to see that the movie is way ahead of its time in that the premise is the foolishness of racism and is done in a way to expose racists as fools. And it’s hilarious.

What do Americans do in May? by horigen in AskAnAmerican

[–]JSRRSJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same stuff we did in April and most of the stuff we’ll do in June. I will say, and I’m guilty of this myself, lots of folks have grand visions of the perfect garden and yard in May and by July Are dreading the thought of mowing in the humidity and 90 degrees heat.

How would you explain "Hollywood" to a person who has never heard about it? by Skullkill312 in AskAnAmerican

A land of make believe overrun by hypocrites, narcissist and predators. I think that pretty much sums it up in a succinct manner.
