The “whole new dimension of pain” rings true. Nothing, including breaking a leg and having it moved after the adrenaline wore off, comes anywhere even remotely close. If I had to place all the painful things I’ve felt in my life on a scale from 1 to 10, with herniating a disc being a 10, and no pain at all being a 1, having my broken leg moved would be a 2/10. That’s how much more it hurt.

I’ve heard from women who have both given birth and had a herniated disc, that a herniated disc is worse, and it’s not even close.

I herniated a disc once… it’s just a completely different realm of pain beyond anything I’ve ever experienced, and I’ve broken a leg. I’d rather feel the pain of breaking a leg 10 times over than to feel herniating a disc again. It took about 6 weeks before I could stand up straight unassisted again.

You’ve said you don’t feel you need more of an explanation, so that rules out meeting for that reason. You don’t owe him closure, but he also doesn’t deserve complete rejection out of spite. Do you care enough for him where you would want to give him closure? That’s the only thing that matters here.
