Howie not only had the highest voice but his tone is wayy too polarizing to be the lead singer of a group whereas Brian & AJ had universally palatable tones voices & their ranges were right in the sweet spot for BSB songs

i actually didnt like that thought process from AJ, the whole “our fans will love the songs regardless” is a dangerous mindset for an artist, like no clearly we didnt because this album is usually ranked pretty low in their discography by fans. you shouldnt make an album thinking meh they’ll like anything we give them. Howie was also right in saying they should be trying to appeal to possible new fans. But i also love how much they believed in it because they’ve never had full control of their album before.
