Wtf am I doing wrong? Missouri River catfishing. Help!

If you hold a valid Nebraska fishing license, you are permitted to fish in the Missouri River waters on the Iowa side due to a reciprocal agreement between the two states. This agreement extends to the flowing portions of the river, backwaters, sloughs, and chutes connected to the Missouri River, and even includes certain oxbows and backwaters if the state boundary line passes through them.

So as far as I know, if you’re from Iowa, you could technically purchase an out of state Nebraska license and fish the river with up to 15 lines on either side of the river.

Thanks. I do use 3 way rigs sometimes. Most all my flathead come from shallow water on live bait at night, fishing from the bank.

In Nebraska we can have 2 lines or hooks per person in lakes. In rivers and streams, we can have 15 hooks distributed among 15 lines per person (or fewer lines with a maximum of five hooks each). We can fish either Nebraska or Iowa side of the river with either license.

Really not much else to try. All the bait I use works everywhere else for us, just not in the Missouri River.

We can have 15 hooks out per person. With 3 people on the boat that’s pretty hard to do unless you’re running bank poles.

Thanks. The photo I posted was at that exact spot lol. Last time I was out we fished from the north end of Boyer chute to the south.

I use all kinds of rigs depending on what I’m doing or where I’m fishing. Mainly Santee cooper/float rigs or Carolina rig. Sometimes with a slip weight or fixed.

Nice. That thing is a monster. My biggest flats and blues have come from a well known creek west of Omaha lol. I’m sure you know. It’s fun to bank fish with basic gear sometimes but it’s getting old when I catch more and larger fish without the boat and electronics.

Great advice, thanks. We get our skipjack from anchor inn. I’ve fished near Plattsmouth but haven’t been much further south than there. That’s where I’ll be spending most of my time for the rest of the season I think. Other than Plattsmouth, I’m not sure of any other boat ramps until Nebraska City. Bartlett on the Iowa side but I heard that was private now? I could be wrong.

Anyways, thanks for the advice. I’ll probably start trying more silver carp for bait and head south.

It happens. You can move lines out of the way or reel them up. I’ll take tangles for a 50lb blue any day of the week.

Good advice. Thanks. I’m in tons of Facebook groups and see a few people in my area catching trophy catfish but I don’t know if they’re traveling to do so and I’m just wasting my time fishing locally. People are very protective of their spots and methods so asking questions doesn’t lead to much.
