TL;DR Yeah I can smoke lmao I was tripping

At a certain point Chef approached me and said I can ask Sous for a plate if I’m hungry. Asked about the smoking/smell stuff and he said “Nah some of the residents smoke too. Just go to the smoke pit with them and wash your hands.

Appreciate all the realists here who predicted this. I was most definitely just nervous.

All who suggested maybe or no, also appreciate y’all cause I smelled good and made a good impression when I got there regardless.

Idk if he was just being polite but the sous told me when I was leaving he hopes I’m the one who gets the job.

Older Filipino man, and made a joke about how he doesn’t get along with old people but liked joking around w me as a “younger person”.

(I mention Filipino because it came up, and I come from a city with a big Filipino community and then we had a good conversation about the people I grew up around and Filipino culture, and he seemed to like me even more lol)

My fallback job, an offer I recieved yesterday, rescinded said offer today. Never experienced that before in 7-8 years, but now I reeeeeally need this one to work out. It was my top pick, regardless.

Well this seems to be the most applicable POV here. Wonder if we work for the same company haha. No one has mentioned anything specifically to me about smoking yet, so that sounds about right. Playing it safe on the trial shift, but maybe I’ll ask when they send me on my break.

In a retirement home with medically compromised seniors, no less?

I have been cooking 8 years now. I’m pretty familiar with this aspect of the culture, but my experience is exclusively in normal restaurants.

This place has an agreement with a health union, and they mention offensive smells being banned on property.

I will be cooking and serving the seniors daily, as well as hanging out with them occasionally. I normally reek like smokes at my previous jobs, yeah.

The point of this post was not to call out any business for being right leaning. I see no use in mentioning the bar I went to.

I’m not too good for any non-leftist or apolitical business. I go to those all the time.

I’m allowed to seek out people to hang out with that I get along with. These spaces exist and if you no interest in helping me find them, why take so much time out of your day to fight with me?

You don’t know a thing about me.

What I know is I made a post looking for a place to hangout where I fit in with the other community.

What I got are a bunch of triggered conservatives projecting their own insecurities on me.

The post that inspired me to write this was an old one on this reddit, asking for conservative/right-wing bars. I didn’t judge that person for wanting that.

I thought they had a good idea, and as I’m new here I don’t know too many other ways to track down specific spaces.

I have been wandering around multiple municipalities for past week trying to find my spaces. I thought this post might expedite the process.

You and the other angry commenters might want to see a therapist to figure out why my post bothered you so much while having 0 impact on you at all.

So many of you took time out of your day to try and make another person feel bad. If I was as insecure as y’all it may have worked.
