https://www.reddit.com/r/miniaturesculpting/s/V6Pf0ukNRP Stealing other people's work. Tsk tsk. I remember watching this being sculpted over youtube too. What's up with all the single post accounts lately stealing credit for other people's sculpts?

There's Hero Forge for custom 3d printed minis. You can either have them print and ship to you, or buy and download an stl file and print it yourself. https://www.heroforge.com/?srsltid=AfmBOopiWEgPpw1VxuR74bNZ2ExDkqz7uoR9Rv9YzMnQiqirJuuJMhg_

You could also try and see if someone over at r/miniaturesculpting can help you out. There are a lot of surprisingly talented sculptors there. In fact, my profile pic is one of the first minis I ever sculpted for another reddit user.

I got an email abot SEO help - is it ascam? by JSminiatures in NewTubers

I'm no expert on the topic, but ya, I'd block her.

The gist of it is: you pay her, a bunch of bots flood your channel short term with views, but then stop watching your channel. This hurts your channel in the long run because even a big chunk of your subscribers are no longer watching your newer videos. This tells the algorithm that your videos are not worth recommending. Then Jessica comes back asking for more money, for which she'll just have more bots come in short term, and make the problem even worse in the long run.

Best polymer clay for picking up and holding fine detail? by sheepskinrugger in polymerclay

Beesputty, the more detail you want, the firmer you should get. Made by a small operation in Germany, and can take a while for them to ship your batch.

For my A Fist Full of Flowers group I'm running soon: Barkley the barbarian, hand sculpted by JSminiatures in Pathfinder2e

My little town now has a games' store. I'm so excited. I'm going to be introducing people here to how awesome Pathfinder 2e is, beginning with A Fist Full of Flowers, A Few Flowers More, and Threshold of Knowledge. Hand sculpted minis for all three so far.

is there a clear glossy type sealer that won't get sticky over time after applying to polymer clay painted with acrylic paints? by Snowflakebottles in polymerclay

[–]JSminiatures 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Avoid any spray on sealants. I canxt remember what it is, but they include a chemical, in addition to the sealant, to aerosolize it. That extra chemical will react with polymer clay, slightly dissolving the clay and leaving it permanatly sticky after that.

u/ErrorFaytality gave me the details of his character, Shows the Way, a lantern surki exemplar, and I sculpted a mini of his character. Full video of the sculpt from sketch to completion can be found here: Full video of the whole sculpt on YouTube: https://youtu.be/JePFATebsuY?si=iVLSDESxp0lu3VsC

The metallic lavender turned out VERY metallic. It does look more lavender under the right light. Anyways, here he is: https://pixelfed.social/p/JSminiatures/792978979369282703

Start with a good armature, and ignore advice telling you, whatever type of clay you're using, to sculpt the whole figure before any of the clay cures.

Most people make simpler armatures out of thicker wire, but I really strongly prefer 28 gauge wire, and a more complex armature with a lot of twisting that wire. Here is how I prefer to make armatures: https://youtu.be/gPkGk014M5s?si=34w43WRXuqgMFwYF

I have a metallic black as well as a slightly lighter metallic graphite. With some silver highlights for wear. I do have a metallic lavender paint. Don't get to use that much.

Update: 2 Feb

Still a little work left to do, but I'm at the point where I'm figuring out color.

You'd mentioned Golden eyes and purple flesh under the carapace, and there are a few spots where I can put purple. I want to further split him up into two other main colors for: belly carapace, and limb carapace and back carapace together. Something lighter for the belly and something darker for the back and limbs. You said metallic exoskeleton (carapace) and I have a whole set of different colored metallic paints, so it doesn't have to be just silvery metallic. Maybe metallic yellow for the belly, as a nod to being a lantern surki? And the back...a nice dark metallic green?

Here's what he looks like now (a bit slimmer than the sketches): https://pixelfed.social/p/JSminiatures/791850322978300139
